Peabodyn...I would think you would chase every contractor away with those 50 questions. ha ha.
its funny, I completely agree with Peabody's questions, they're 100% what should be asked about when getting a roof quote and any decent contractor should be able to ansewr them easily with confidence.
price quote actually seems about right, again assuming you're using a licensed and insured guy with stripping it down, ice and water shield, 30 yr shingles. etc.
if its just a layover existing it sounds high.
but then again, I haven't priced out a rip and reshingle in a few years

No pun intended (ok, maybe a little) but shingle prices have gone through the roof.......(sorry, couldn't help myself)..
If your roof is 2000Sqft then that would be referred to as 20 Squares, that said 22,000 seems excessively high. Even with architectural grade shingles the cost should be less than half of that.
