Well, what is going to be the remedy to this? Increase property taxes to offset the golden parachutes of state employees?

Long Island taxpayers will pay an estimated $2.9 billion over the next two years into the state's public pension systems, a 69 percent increase over the previous two-year period.

"Take the money and run...."

How many of the recipients of these pensions will flee NYS leaving the rest of us to foot the bill?

They should make it a requirement to the pension agreement. You continue to collect it only as long as you live (i.e. suffer the excessive taxation) in NYS.

Either that or the recipient's benefit is reduced a certain percentage if they do relocate.

I like those ideas. I say 30% reduction if you move off Long Island and a 60% reduction if you move outside the United States or a US territory.

The people who educate your kids and protect you from crime are worthless leeches? I mean, yeah, we pay too much for their services, but don't fall into the habit of dehumanizing people.

I hate to say it but we need a major financial crisis in the US to remedy this situation. We need hundreds of municipalities to file for bankruptcy...forcing the altering of state constitutions, increased contributions from pensioners into the pension system (and healthcare), eliminating overtime from pension calculations, switching all new employees to 401k type retirement plans.

DiNapoli's playing accounting games with the pension fund to hide the trouble we're really in...postponing the day of reckoning.

I'm so glad I moved away from this stupidity. I'm no longer killing myself to line the pockets of these people. Moving away was one of the best decisions I ever made in my life. I just wish it didn't make so much sense. It's so sad what happens when greed takes over...
