Yes my name speaks it all, and i am heavily considering a permanent move to Vegas ( or any of the surrounding cities/towns) and i would realy love to hear from you, how is Vegas different from home, what is the pay, did your employer pay your relocation fees, travel/contract job, sign-on bonuses, etc, etc.
My husband and i have visited 3 times in the past year and cannot get enough.
Any info would be soo appreciated, thanks in advance!

Have you asked at the Nevada forum on Allnurses.com? It does not have as many visitors as here but it is a lot more focused on what you are seeking.

I did not think any hospital system anywhere did sign on bonuses or relocation assistance anymore. There are, hmmm, off the top of my head, 5 RN programs in Las Vegas that pump out grads at least annually, so I am not sure if the employers need to offer any incentives, unfortunately. A full time job is incentive enough these days....

check out Valley Health in las vegas, they are offering 10k sign on for night shift and 5k for day shifts!
I am a nurse in nj, and my hubby and I just got back, we are definately moving !
I was told hourly rate might be between 28 and 33, but remember no state tax so that is more money in your pocket !!!!!
best of luck to you

Thats a very good salary in a city where 140K gets you a nice 2,000 sq ft house in an ok area and $180-200K gets you that same house in an excellent area.

I'm currently in school to be an RN and I really want to consider Vegas as a permanent residence so I hope when I'm done in 2 years things will still be looking good for nurses in Vegas. Those signing bonuses would make the move from Wisconsin so much easier.

Wow that is great ! I didn't think they would do relocation assistance.
I was thinking about applying to a hospital, but my hubby will have a work sched that will only allow me to work T,W,TH if i do 12 hour shifts.

what unit are you working if you don't mind me asking?

Who knows what the market will look like in two years, but there aren't many openings for new grad nurses out here right now (in home hospice is hiring) and they definitely aren't paying signing bonuses. Like the prev poster said, we have many schools pumping out new grads on an annual or more frequent basis.

RN in Vegas. I believe on the Valley Health System (a UHS system) is doing relcation bonuses now. There are no RN jobs offering 12 hour T W TH shifts in any aspect of nursing in Vegas not even long term care. You could look at home health nursing where you can almost set visit times but be prepared be called 7 days a week. Another idea is to look at agency nursing. They may be able to work with you. However even agency nurse on a contract are expected to do every other weekend. The are several outpatient surgery centers, radiology clinics etc which are more Monday through friday but you need OR, ER, PACU or ICU experience for those jobs.
