You are incorrect here. I bought my car 3 years ago and the reason I got it so cheap ($500) was because the former owner could not get it through emissions. It will not pass with regular gas. I know the tricks to get it through emissions without bankrupting myself.

Emission testing is only required in Clark and Washoe counties. I was pissed when I found out you have to do it every year unlike Arizona which is every 2 years. It is also very strict. To me it is nothing more than a scam designed to target poor people such as myself.

I hear you on this one. I had an older car in CA and the only way it would pass was to use a special oil that doesn't burn until it gets to high temps. It would smoke out of the tail pipe with regular oil, but would pass smog when I used the high temp oil. I used that car for a few years till it finally broke down. Using E85 is smart because it would burn cleaner than using gasoline and probably pass with flying colors.

You can find E85 at the Terrible's stations. Make sure your car is a Flex Fuel Vehicle (FFV). It will probably have a yellow gas cap instead of a black one. If you use E85 in your car and it is not designed for it, your engine will corrode.
