There is that as well David. Actually the worst of Las Vegas in some dimensions.

But there is a relatively nice area south of Fremont and east of LV Blvd. It is 50s and 60s built homes mostly. Some beat up rentals...some really exquisite mid century places often just a few houses apart. The thought is to turn it into Kentish Town or similar. If it works.

There is also the Naked City...the area immediately west of the Strat between it and the 15.

Mostly down that way stay near the experience or the 3rd street development. It is very, very rough a block or so off the main drags.

Henderson is nice but it not the only safe place to live. Most of the city is safe. Maybe 20% of it is bad.

THIS! This wonderful attitude is what makes Las Vegas great. No one cares about your religion, ethnicity, skin color. Everyone is seen as a person, not as a member of a group. The only divider here is economic. Have's VS Have Nots.

No one cares about their neighbor's skin color. Are they a good neighbor? That's what matters. On my little quiet cul de sac, we have young, old, black, Hispanic, Asian, and plain old white people.

Personally, I love some of those older historical areas many think are unsafe. And I would live there. I tried for years to buy in Paradise Palms, Huntridge, and McNeill but it just didn't work out. I wish I could have waited to buy where I wanted but that's life.

Safe depends on who you are and where you have lived before. My SO grew up in NYC and spent a lot of time in DC as well. Not much here bothers him. I grew up in the rural Midwest but I also lived overseas and in Boston. I think it's all pretty good here. Age is a factor and people tend to become more fearful of their surroundings as they get older.

I was sick to death of rural life and I wanted to be urban. I wanted to be in the middle of everything. I don't walk alone after dark... I am observant and careful. But I am not scared.
