I have a car rental arranged @ the Airport. However I will be staying on the strip when I am due to pick it up.(Bills). I thought I would take the Ace bus right to the McCarran car rental center instead of a bus to the airport and then the shuttle from there. It looks like the Ace bus goes right by the car rental center. Can anyone confirm this for me?? I have already been on the RTC web site but it is not 100% clear to me that this is so. Wikipedia is also unclear as to whether this is possible. Has anyone taken the Ace bus and does it stop close to McCarran Car rental center?

Thank you so much. Much appreciated!!

If the ACE goes to the airport the you can get off there, then take the shuttle from the airport for the car rental places.

That is an option that will work for sure if the ACE goes to the airport.

The Ace bus does not go to the airport! That I much i have been able to ascertain. I don't think there is any direct bus from the strip to the airport. That is why I thought it would be easier to just go directly to the car rental center. I am trying to avoid bus transfers and do this as directly as I can.

Any one else know anything about the ace bus route? Can I use it to access the Car Rental center?

Car rentals cost considerably more at the airport than in the city. In addition to a higher basic cost for the car, there is a 10% concession fee plus a facility charge (basically for the vehicle parking space) of $3.00 or so a day while you have the car.

To give you a specific example, I just reserved a car with Enterprise for the beginning of May when my parents are coming to visit (because my car is a two-seater). Having them pick me up and take me to their nearest office to rent the car will cost me $229.39/week for a full size. I just went into their system and changed the pickup location to LAS and the price went up to $354.96. That's quite a surcharge!

If you'll already be on the Strip, there is no reason to go back to LAS to rent.

Are you sure the car rental won't deliver the car to you, or that they don't have a location on the Strip? I know that Avis and Hertz used to deliver, and Enterprise does for sure. They might even have a rental office in your hotel. I assume you are trying to avoid a cab ride?

Listen to MadMan! Many of the casinos have a car rental office right there in the hotel. You don't have to go anywhere. Just make the reservation, and they will have the rental car waiting for you in the parking garage at your hotel. Very easy.

Thanks everyone for all of the suggestions but believe me there are reasons why I am doing it this way.

1. I need the car early in the morning (6:00) None of the local car rentals open that early.

2. yes the fees and taxes are much higher but for some reason the rates are much lower. I am paying $17.00 per day for an intermediate vehicle. Anything on the strip is $30 to $40 per day. I'll pay the extra taxes & fees thanks.

3. I want to drop off the vehicle at the airport when we leave Vegas saving me cab fare to the airport.

Also usually only the local Rental places will pick you up not the airport locations so that idea won't work for me either. So thanks for the suggestions but I really just need a confirmation that the Ace bus goes past the McCarran Car rental Center.

Is there anyone who has taken this bus and can confirm??

Thanks

Not sure about the Ace, but the Deuce stops on the Strip and southbound will take you right past the McCarran Car Rental Center on Gilespie. While it won't stop there, it will stop near there. Not sure about the schedule though. Basically, if the route map shows it heads east on Warm Springs past the LV Outlet Center, then north on Gilespie to the S. Strip Transit Terminal, it will go right past the Rental Center. I don't know of any stops at the Rental Center so plan on a short walk.

Enterprise cars are usually dirty and over-priced compare to other rental companies...locations outside the airport do not have much selection. The best days to start your rental period from the airport price wise is Wednesday-Thursday

Thanks dirtbikegirl.
but i think that has changed now that the Ace bus is running. According to the RTC map and schedule the Deuce only goes as far as Mandalay bay now with a note to change to the Ace bus if you want to continue to the las Vegas Outlet center and the South Strip transfer Terminal.

That was my original intention. Take the Deuce to the South Strip Transfer terminal and then I saw the change on the RTC web site.
