At this point in time with this recession, it's arbitrary where you move to.
The uptick in productivity figures tells you something: Employers are finding, with fear, you can squeeze evermore productivity from their employees, and I see this continuing, with no incentives to hire more workers.

My cousin and husband, with solid resumes, and not even in need of full-time employment, moved to Dallas two months ago, from Minnesota, and not even a nibble yet for either of them.

My cousin retired after 35 years of working as a secretary. All she wants, at this stage in her life, is a part time job, just working a low-wage job at a grocery store.
Can't even find that!

I guess it all depends on the person, I know some people who have been actively seeking jobs and have not worked in 2 years. They are good clean cut people who have resumes, no criminal record and dress appropriately. Some people just have bad luck

Still a 13% unemployment rate is eating away at me and is seriously making me reconsider relocating to Vegas in October

Damn this pseudo-depression

"have not worked in 2 years" is the killer there. Employers in my experience are extremely hesitant to hire people with gigantic gaps in employment.

I see what you are getting at with that being a killer for employers looking for potential employees but this pseudo depression has been going on for 2 years and shows no signs on improving at all unemployment is still rising and that shows no signs of improvement either

people tell me with my age and the experience i have i wont have too much trouble finding a job in vegas, i hope they are right
