There's going to be a lot of disagreement about what equals "great" Indian. People like different places. For one person who raves about a place there will be another who thinks the food is barely edible.

Most of them have decent lunch buffets and are clean, but you'll often find them in strip malls and things.

For instance, my wife and I really like Mt Everest India's Cuisine on West Sahara, but it's located in the parking lot of Mariana's Supermarket in a former Burger King building. It's pretty decent inside, but if you are after something "atmospheric" I don't know how happy you'll be. The Lunch buffet is something like $8.99 each and the food is awesome. - Mt. Everest India's Cuisine - Las Vegas

Tamba at the back of the Hawaiian Marketplace on The Strip (just over the street from Monte Carlo) is good too, although I have again only ever had the lunch buffet. You can usually find coupons for this in all the "What's on in Vegas" books. Tamba Indian Cuisine & Lounge - Best Indian restaurant on Las Vegas Strip

If you want something a little more up market you could try Origin India - Origin India Restaurant on Paradise Road just over from the Hard Rock Casino. We ate here once for dinner - enjoyed it very much. A lot more expensive than other places.

A lot of people swear by "India Oven" which is in a strip mall just off Sahara a stone's throw east of the strip. I poked my head in once and it was very small with a few things on the buffet I wasn't keen on, so I have never tried it.

Hope this helps. I haven't eaten any Thai in Vegas so I can't help you there.

I've been to the Mt. Everest place once. Pretty good, very low key decor wise which is fine by me because the food is cheap. I've also been to Bollywood food is good but they charge ala carte for rice/bread etc.. along with bad service. Looking at reviews for various Indian restaurants here, they need help specifically in customer serivce. For Thai Archi's is my place.

Lotus of Siam is one of the most heavily promoted Thai restaurants on the internet. There are several posters who hit several of the foodie boards promoting the place. I have eaten there three times and the food has been underwhelming.

If I was going to look for good Thai food in Las Vegas, I probably would head down Spring Mouintain Rd. as there are at least a dozen Thai places as well a wide variety of Asian cuisine places.

I wasn't that big of a fan of Bollywood. I found the food less fresh seeming than other places I have tried and they have some unusual dishes that you don't usually see on an Indian buffet (ive only been for the buffet lunch) that were just OK - I don't know if this is because the restaurant is a bit more westernized or if it's from a different region of India. Either way, the restaurant isn't a favourite of mine.

Pin Kaow is probably the best Thai food in Las Vegas, but it's not close to the Strip. Location - PIN KAOW; Thai Restaurant (http://www.pinkaowthai.com/2.html - broken link)

You might want to take a cab over to China Town. It's fun and interesting, and you have your choice of all kinds of Asian restaurants...but no Indian.

There are lots of Indian restaurants fairly close to the Strip. Check this Google page. Indian restaurants las vegas - Google Search
