What the hell is this world coming to? Anyways, I was watching CNN (it made national news) and saw this, so I thought I would post it here.

Kudos to the front line security. The shooter was not able to penetrate the courthouse and was shoot dead. Condolences to the guard who gave his life, and may the wounded Marshall make a full recovery.

I subscribe to email updates from KLAS-TV, so I've been getting updates on my phone all day. I must watch too much TV because after hearing all those gunshots, the first thing I thought of was some big crime boss being busted out of jail by his machine-gun toting crew in a hail of gunfire. Now it appears it was some kook who was angry that his social security payment was reduced.

LOL... yup, you watch too many "good fellas" shows! The last time the Fed court house made the news it was the prosecution of the Monguls and the Hells Angels for the bawl in Laughlin.

The Fed Court House is pretty tight, as are most of the court houses. I took my daughter there for a juvenile court program orientation, I think it was the Trail by Peers program. She trained to be a juror.

I'm not sure how the SSA works, but surely it would have been easier to file an appeal. Gesh.

Didn't EVERYBODY's SS payments get reduced??? No COLA adjustments this year because of negative inflation. We might see a few more angry recipients.

I was actually thinking more like "CSI". I was waiting to hear reports of a missile being fired into a courtroom.

I don't know about the COLA changes, but negative inflation is the last thing we have to worry about. Helicopter Ben (Bernanke) has increased the money supply significantly. Many people (myself included, though I'm not an Economist) define inflation as an increase in the supply of money (without respect to prices).

Ben is a money printer. He is definitely NOT providing us with 'negative inflation.;

I'd think they would beef up security at the Social Security offices around town. I wonder if the fact that Reid and Ensign have offices there had anything to do with it? How does shooting another old guy that has nothing to do with SSA help his situation? One sign of insanity is attacking the wrong target...tire goes flat, kick the cat, etc.
