Sure, the goal was for Harrah's to purchase the remainder of the center strip - Barbary Coast, Imperial Palace, etc. and redevelop that corner. However, with the current situation, that will be delayed for 5-10 years. They are NOT going to spend a dime to upgrade it at this point, especially with the rates they are getting. However, do remember that there is limited space mid-strip and this area will be redeveloped over time.

IP is and always has been a place you either love or hate. There is NO in-between. I found the rooms to be very similar to Super 8s. Clean rooms but spartan as heck. IMHO, the rooms are a STEAL as long as you realize you are paying for location, not luxury.

As for the auto collection, the cars may not be restored to the standard of some of the upscale auctions, they present a lot of vehicles that you do not see anywhere else since the breakup of Bill Harrah's auto collection in Reno. And the admission is free.

That is what bothered me, rare cars that have been butchered by hacks and still listed for a princely sum. This is to anyone in general, if you don't have the funds or skill to restore a rare car properly don't touch it. Sell it to someone who can.

I wouldn't build people homes without knowing what I was doing, and I sure wouldn't fix cavities or try to perform knee replacement surgery without knowing what I was doing. I don't know why some people think they know how to fix cars when they clearly don't. Oh well, a personal pet peeve and one that 99 percent of the population couldn't care less about.

The food was well prepared and quite good. The problem is the portions. They are generally 2-4 times larger than you would get at the Waffle House. I ate there for breakfast once and that was the last meal of the day. I would call it quality AND quantity.

The food is midwestern comfort food with a little bit of California flair.

I worked my way through college as a waiter. I could not work in that place. The plates - maybe 3-4x the normal size - weighed a ton.

It was a fun breakfast. Next time, my wife and I will order ONE entree and split it.

Hope that helps.
Very accurate description.

The portions are enormous, but I thought the food was excellent. The last time I went (to the one on Sahara, not in the IP), someone in my party ordered the hamburger stuffed with mashed potatoes. It sounded strange, but he raved about it for days. I definitely would go back.

I agree that the food was well prepared. My ONLY complaint was that the portions were 3-4x what I needed (and I am a BIG guy).

I always felt that the Hash House A GO GO was abit over rated. Big portions is about the only good thing I can think of about it. Now I dont think the IP ever had a hey day. Thier biggest competitor for rooms on the strip was the Westward HO when they where still around. Harrahs never really had any plans in the works for the property. They just bought it for land options and the price was right. Now they love the place because it's a dump and it's cheap to operate. Barabary Coast was a perk for a land for cash swap that Boyd Gaming needed for the now defunct Echelon project. Take a look at the ariel view of IP on google maps. It makes you really think if the old rumor about the previous owners of the hotel being Nazi's was true.

Barbary Coast is now Bill's. I don't think Harrah's has any affiliations with Bill's.

Harrah's traded land it owned to Boyd Gaming for the old Barbary Coast. The name "Bill's" refers to William Harrah.

Ah ha. Why did they exlude Bill's from their players' club?

Financal costs because Bills player tracking system would need an upgrade thats compatible with SDS.

Hash House was OK, but I agree that it is over-rated. The food was good, and the portions are huge! But I thought it was a bit too pricey, even with the huge portions. I would definitely recommend sharing an entree. I had the meatloaf pasta, which sounds gross, but it was actually pretty good. Don't think I would go back though.
