Yeah I would recommend the Rio. McFaddens is the ultimate party and they have some great drink specials! Plus, with the complimentary shuttle to/from the Strip until 1am, it's easily accessible. Voodoo offers great views of the Strip and I believe they have complimentary admission before 9pm. Short distance from the Palms as well for the celeb watching experience. Variety of restaurants, bowling, huge sports book, friendly bar staff at all bars, and a Carnivale parade happens every day on the ceiling of Masquerade Village!

Hard Rock Hotel...ask for the Paradise Tower...Just there Sept and it was awesome. was also invited to the John Varvatos Boutique opening and another Party for Paris Hilton.

Nobu is awesome the best sushi in Vegas and everyone who stays at HRH parties like a rock star.

Also if you look the part you will be treated like Rock Royalty....I am going back for more royal treatment for Thanksgiving.

Where you stay doesn't matter that much since when people come here they make the rounds of all the hotels. Unless of course you're staying at a hotel that comps certain things for guests. But if I had to stay in a hotel I think I'd like Planet Hollywood for amenities and location.

Which hotels give the best experience in Vegas?

The free ones, I have an offer for a few nights free from the Mandalay Bay and several other hotels.
Good luck to you.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the Venetian. We stayed there for four days in Feb and had great time. So much to do within the hotel, it was difficult to find time to go out. Ofcourse like everyone else we did the rounds of many strip hotels. But the rooms were great, service too.

Probably because it's about twice/three times as much to stay there than other properties, and if you're venturing out to other hotels each day, what's the point of paying for luxury accommodations? Granted, nobody wants a dirty hotel, but something more economical, so you have the extra money to spend on other adventures. If you have the means to stay at Venetian/Bellagio/Wynn/Encore, then go for it, but that would be a waste of money in my opinion. I see those properties as places for more romantic/special occasion places to stay. Personally, I like Mandalay Bay because their rooms are very clean, bathrooms are a girls dream come true with a huge jacuzzi tub and relaxing sea salts, and the prices have come down there.

Buzz, forgot Planet Hollywood, I like that one too! I recommend that for younger couples visiting because of the location and upbeat atmosphere. Love the new decor inside instead of what Aladdin had.

I'm mid 30's and have been going to Vegas once a month for about 10 years now.

It will depend how long you are staying and what you are looking for.

December is a slow time of year except for the rodeo time.

Normally I would say Planet Hollywood or MGM for your age group, considering price, location, atmosphere, and proximity on the strip. But depending when in December, it may not matter.

Also depends if you have blue collar tastes or if you want to live the life of Paris Hilton. Since you are going in December(cheap rates) I'm guessing its closer to the former.
