Trying to book a last minute trip to your fine city. I've been to vegas many times over the years, but it's been a while. I'm use to always finding cheap hotel deals, not so for this coming weekend. Everything I look at it $250 plus for this Friday and Saturday. Does anyone know any places to find better deals? I'd even be willing stay outside town a few miles. I checked Primm and everything is running $150 on up a night out there too.

Thanks in advance!

You can stay at any of the Station casinos for a fraction of that price. Just go to their site and pick the one that is closest to where you want to go.

The closest to the Strip is Palace Station - Fri $110, Sat $140. They have a $17/night resort fee.

The nicest 2, IMO, are Green Valley Ranch and Red Rock, but they are farther away. GVR is sold out Saturday night, and Red Rock is up there at $250/night.

If you go to www.sclv.com you can see the listing of which properties are under the Station umbrella and the pricing for each.

You can also check the Fremont St. properties, as they are usually less expensive than Strip properties. I did notice that even the Four Queens pricing for this weekend is listed at $125 on Friday and $189 on Saturday. September weekends must be popular. They drop back to "normal" pricing starting in November.

I did a quick Orbitz search and sorted by lowest price. There were several places under $100 a night (Howard Johnsons, Super 8, etc). Nothing fancy, but at the last minute you don't get a lot of choice I suppose. LVH was $130, that was the least expensive resort style place I think. (in that search anyway)

Four Queens is like that. Booking in advance is always the way to go there, regardless of the time of year. I have planned ahead the times I stayed there and have gotten the $39 or $29 a night rates (and in December got upgraded to a suite for no reason!)

Hotels.com has many options starting at $49/night this weekend. If you're willing to stay all the way out in Jean, then any of the ones listed on Hotels.com would work for your needs since they're all closer to the action.

This is fight weekend. You picked a bad weekend unless you're in town for the fight itself!

There are certain times in Las Vegas where the hotel rates are very high. These include:

Super Bowl Sunday
NCAA Tournament Weekends
NASCAR Weekends
CES
Fight weekends
New Years

If you want reasonable rates, you avoid those weekends.

Everybody knows the Primm trick. Those hotels fill up pretty fast. You might have better luck in Mesquite or Laughlin, neither of which is close.

Also, try Hotwire and PRiceline. You can usually figure out the "mystery" hotels

I have booked 200+ times on Hotwire and Priceline over the years. You can get some great deals.

However, not in this case for the following reasons:

1) If the rates are very high, inventory is minimal and the prices will be high on those sites.

2) The zones in Las Vegas are drawn in a manner to appear that you will get a Strip hotel but you very well could be on a property in an undesirable area west of the Strip.

3) The resort fees can eat you alive. You bid an amount just to find out that you will be paying an additional $25-35 a night (i.e., Trump Plaza).

Going to have resort fees almost at every hotel.. and this isn't limited to Vegas
