Your link was to part one.

Here's part two:

Luck runs out on Vegas boom -- latimes.com

This part focuses on the strip hotels rather than individuals and makes a point of all the discounting going on. I can personally attest to that because I stayed at the Bellagio for a few nights last week at a price of $119/night.

And that included Friday night.

The Friday night of a three-day holiday weekend.

Golly gee, yes, it would make me very happy indeed - and if you could get the Californians to do the same it would be a real bonus. Then perhaps people can move in who will respect the land and will take proper care of the resources.
Hmmmm. Did I misjudge you? At least we agree on one thing.

I've always loved Las Vegas and the diverse group of folks who live here. There's nothing wrong with people who are willing to work hard finding success. It's called the American Dream and it's not something we should ever be ashamed of having. There's always a down side to an explosion of growth and expansion. The pendulum has to swing both ways. So today, we are down and out in Vegas. Tomorrow that will change. Vegas was hit hard but I think our recovery will be spectacular too. Vegas is always worth watching.

It's great Vegas is a place where normal people can be successful. Yes, a lot of people went too far but that was all over, not just Vegas. We are in a decent place now, housing wise. For sustainable growth long term, the average worker has to be able to afford the average house. It's been a while since home ownership was affordable here. Las Vegas is a lucky lady. She is home to some of the most independent, interesting people on Earth. People still willing to work for that American Dream.

The casinos could help us turn around faster. All they need to do to increase traffic coming to Vegas is abandon the PRNG and go back to the RNG. Give the people back their shot at winning and they will flock here. After all, the odds were enough in the casinos favor that they did well for decades before that pesky chip was even invented. Give the tourists back the play for their money and make gambling fun again.

Default Excuse me -

I happen to be an American who has actually visited Europe, with a European wife. I'm well aware I was looking at an "imitation" of the Eiffel Tower. So what ??? As my immigrant grandfather would say "You no like, you go home".

My dear, why don't you take some of that lovely passion of your's and use it to improve your lot in life ? Try and act like us immigrants who make the best of our lives and become productive members of society. Stop complaining. If you don't find what you are seeking, change your plans. Live elsewhere. Do things differantly. Your personal preferences and predjudices are not mine. Don't try to evangelize the rest of us who have a differant world view and lifestyle than your's. I'm always amazed at the fact that people spend their time revisiting their losses. You can turn that time and energy into more productive endeavors. The only thing worth revisiting is perhaps Brideshead.

Cheers.

Yellowsnow and JW Miller you got reps.

There is a big difference between a cheap copy of something and an expensive replica. This expensive replica pays homage to the original; and even at only half the enormous size of the original, it is itself a pretty awesome sight. Oh, and in Paris it is called Tour Eiffel. Granted the original is even more spectacular, especially at night reflecting on the Seine, but the replica ain't chopped liver. That part of the Strip is especially beautiful.

Default Dream is dying?

The dream is dying for this entire country. And dreams dying within dreams.

Dream on!
