That makes sense and I agree. I'm not close to the situation anymore, but I would think they would be hiring unemployment claims examiners. But don't forget, new hires start out on probation and they can lay you off.

I really wish they will not cut jobs such as social workers, case managers btw. I also hope they will get to hire more people in the unemployment section and in the DETR.

DETR is unemployment. Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation. The Employment Security Division (ESD) includes all the unemployment people and Nevada JobConnect is made up of ESD, CEP, and several non-state agencies since Billery Clinton's One Stop idea came into being. It's now a typical screwed up Federal project of things being run by committee. Somebody said an elephant is a mouse designed by a committee and the Feds just don't get it. But unemployment includes all the claims examiners here and up north, and all the support and management people here and in Carson City. Then there are all the folks who help people find jobs. Right now they should be looking for all the help they can get. They shouldn't be subject to a freeze since the money for is it 100% Federal. But governors always screw with that too because it makes them look good. None of the money for unemployment comes from the general fund though, so it shouldn't matter to tax payers how many people they hire. Employers pay all of it. You and I don't pay a dime towards unemployment benefits.

Basically the unemployment ax is going for those of less seniority levels and also where cuts to personnel are being done. I will tell you also that the agency I believe is still open to hiring physicians like me because there wouldn't be an agency to exist without doctors and there is always a shortage of doctors....

Thanks this is helpful.

On another note can I just say how great, resourceful and informative the members of this message board have been. A good amount of what i've learned about Vegas since I arrived in September has been from this forum.

Thanks to everyone for always keeping me in the "know"...
