Okay, so I've posted here before and the people were very friendly and helpful. You all probably get tired of getting questions from tourists, so for that I apologize. At that time we hardly had any money saved for the trip and we were just worried about the price of food and what not. Well, we got a decent amount of money saved for only a 3 night visit (coming for a conference), so now here are my questions.

  • Dance clubs - Are there *any* dance clubs in Vegas with a casual dress code? In other words, somewhere I can wear jeans and a collared shirt? Ive been doing my research and it seems to me that the nightclubs in Vegas are way more upscale than what I am used to in St Louis. I've been told not to wear tennis shoes, but I don't have any "stylish" dress shoes, just my dorky work dress shoes. Also, I'm not obese or anything, but I do have some baggage. My wife doesn't, but I do. Is that going to be a problem for me?
  • Gentleman's clubs - Hopefully this is an appropriate question for this board, but I'm sure it's not a first. Would you suggest an alcohol-free club (if you catch my drift) or a club that can serve? When they do serve, is it extremely expensive (Captain & Coke being $15 or something crazy like that, etc)? Any clubs you would suggest on the Strip that aren't absurdly overpriced and overrated? Or, do they not exist on the strip? Any recommendations?
  • We have casinos in St Louis, my wife has been but I have not. So obviously, we are not big gamblers. Where would you suggest we go just to burn $50 on some penny slots? I don't care if that only last 30 minutes or something, I am just wanting to do it just to do it.
We have a decent amount of dough to burn, but not enough to drop $300 in a dance club. Plus we'd probably wake up the next morning pretty upset that we spent $300 in one club

Any way, if you don't want to answer publicly, a private message would be appreciated.

I appreciate in advance any advice that you give.

Any nude strip club in the City of Las Vegas cannot serve alcohol...but those wouldn't be on the Strip as the Strip isn't in the city, i dont know the county laws regarding that though...

you'll find lots of penny machines in the local casinos...

Penny slots are the fastest way to lose your money. At least this has been my experience.

Then don't go to one. $300 is pocket change by Vegas standards. Save it for the video poker machines. Casino Royale next to Harrah's seems to have better slot odds than most places, from what I've been told.

Captain and Coke at $15 is simply the way the game is played right now - you won't find any upscale place with cheap drinks.

As for nightclubs, they pretty much all seem to forbid tennis shoes. They might not say anything - they'll just leave you standing in line all night and let in better dressed people from further back in line. Casual dress is OK in most restaurants and lounges, though.

Anyone who wants to know what Vegas nightclub crowds are like should watch the VH1 reality show "Tool Academy" - the twenty original participants are as close to a perfect cross-section of a typical club line as I have ever seen.

Skip the club. Play games and drink free even if you have to chase the cocktail waitress. Tip her $2 a drink and she will be back.

Thanks everyone!! The advice is helpful, I won't waste my time on any dance clubs. What games do you suggest for someone who has never gambled?

My favorite is Sic Bo at the New York New York. I play big and small which is basically like flipping a coin. $2 is the minimum bet, $500 is the maximum. I usually end up breaking even at the end of the night. The cocktail waitresses are very attentive and the drinks are good. All in all, my favorite game and casino.

The hotel/casino you are staying in is a good place to start. Find a low limit blackjack table $5 or $10 where the dealer is alone with no players. With a table that already has players, the players may not have the patience for your new experience. Walk up, sit down tell the dealer you have not played before and you want to learn. Surely you know how to play blackjack from home or the internet. Make sure the dealer speaks English well enough and is friendly, or go on to another table. Most dealers will make you feel welcome and you will have a good time win or lose. Drinks are free on the tables, tips of 1 to $2 per drink are welcomed. Tip the dealer if you are winning, put a buck out front of your bet so the dealer plays with you. Have fun.

I second yourbasicmom's advice. It's your best chance of walking away with more than you started with. Plus...you'll no longer be a table virgin.

$5 blackjack tables at the Bellagio??????? Where???? First, if you are going to play, don't do it there... For cheap, try Imperial Palace or Sahara.. yes the hotels are dumps but it will be cheaper...or better yet.. go downtown!
