If you want to dance and be totally casual, go to Harrah's Carnival Court (outside Harrahs' next to Ghiradelli) bar, live music, DJ...and it's NO CHARGE to get in..plus you get to see some of the world famous Flair Bartenders in action.

Have fun on your trip and enjoy!

You can dance at home. That's not what Vegas is about. People don't come to Las Vegas to dance, and they don't go to those LA & NYC style meat lockers to dance ─ they go for the sex and drugs. How that system of nightclub ever got started in Vegas is beyond me. They originated in big cities where they had nothing better to do, and not enough entertainment venues for the multitudes who were used to being herded like cattle. Standing in line hoping to impress some a**hole from New York to let you enter is a fairly recent Las Vegas phenomenon, and is not the tourist-friendly Las Vegas we've always been.

And why would you take your wife to a strip joint??????

Since you don't know anything about gambling, don't. Besides you can ease into that in St. Louis if you want to learn how to lose your money. Your $50.00 will be gone in about ten minutes no matter what you play. Penny slots are still $3.00 a pull...not a penny. Then what do you do with the rest of the evening when you lose it all?

Las Vegas is the entertainment capital of the world. Why don't you see a show or two? That's something you can't do at home. There is all kinds of free entertainment up and down the Strip. Take advantage of the things you can't do at home. You're making way too big a deal out of this trip. Just chill. As soon as you step off the plane you'll be assaulted with so much to see and do you won't have a problem with what to do. It'll come to you.

Okay, so I've posted here before and the people were very friendly and helpful. You all probably get tired of getting questions from tourists, so for that I apologize. At that time we hardly had any money saved for the trip and we were just worried about the price of food and what not. Well, we got a decent amount of money saved for only a 3 night visit (coming for a conference), so now here are my questions.

  • Dance clubs - Are there *any* dance clubs in Vegas with a casual dress code? In other words, somewhere I can wear jeans and a collared shirt? Ive been doing my research and it seems to me that the nightclubs in Vegas are way more upscale than what I am used to in St Louis. I've been told not to wear tennis shoes, but I don't have any "stylish" dress shoes, just my dorky work dress shoes. Also, I'm not obese or anything, but I do have some baggage. My wife doesn't, but I do. Is that going to be a problem for me?
  • Gentleman's clubs - Hopefully this is an appropriate question for this board, but I'm sure it's not a first. Would you suggest an alcohol-free club (if you catch my drift) or a club that can serve? When they do serve, is it extremely expensive (Captain & Coke being $15 or something crazy like that, etc)? Any clubs you would suggest on the Strip that aren't absurdly overpriced and overrated? Or, do they not exist on the strip? Any recommendations?
  • We have casinos in St Louis, my wife has been but I have not. So obviously, we are not big gamblers. Where would you suggest we go just to burn $50 on some penny slots? I don't care if that only last 30 minutes or something, I am just wanting to do it just to do it.
We have a decent amount of dough to burn, but not enough to drop $300 in a dance club. Plus we'd probably wake up the next morning pretty upset that we spent $300 in one club

Any way, if you don't want to answer publicly, a private message would be appreciated.

I appreciate in advance any advice that you give.
As far as clubs go, most are inside hotel/casinos. Where are you staying? The reason I ask, is that your hotel will comp you entry into their nightclub if you are staying there, ie: Mirage-Jet, TI- Christian Audigier, Luxor-LAX. Just go and talk to the hotel conceirge

Also a good tip- Hotel gift shops almost always have free passes to get into their nightclub, ie: Encore gift shop has vip passes to get into XS (by far the hottest newest club) The catch is getting there before a line ensues.

Just be sure to be nicely buzzed beforehand as the cocktails do get pricey once inside.

There is so much misleading crap being posted now that I will have to clear it up here. I am a Las Vegas local that is on the strip every single week....

"If you want to dance and be totally casual, go to Harrah's Carnival Court (outside Harrahs' next to Ghiradelli) bar, live music, DJ...and it's NO CHARGE to get in..plus you get to see some of the world famous Flair Bartenders in action."

Not true at all. It is only free if you get in before it starts to get dark at night time. After that, be ready for at least a $10 cover charge and very high drink prices. Considering the action does not start until later on, this statement is totally false.

"Your $50.00 will be gone in about ten minutes no matter what you play. Penny slots are still $3.00 a pull...not a penny. Then what do you do with the rest of the evening when you lose it all?"

Another totally idiotic statement. You can play easily at 1 penny a spin... 1 line, 1 unit per line. I have done this multiple times to get free comped drinks at multiple casinos. Sure, if you go to a penny machine and are dumb enough to play 20 lines at 15 units per line, this is correct. But, who is dumb enough to do this???

lotsa good advice here so far.

free passes to get in, do the pre-party elsewhere is the way to go if you want to check out the "in" clubs. i don't go often, but i have been able to go and not drop all my cash there. i did once fail to meet the dress code due to my shoes (pair of adidas shell toes...i still would argue they were appropriate, but i am not running the door).

Mommom's tip sounds promising, but i haven't checked it out, so i can't say more than that. you might check out Gold Digger's in the nugget downtown. definitely not the LV Strip club scene (not strip club as in naked, but strip club as in LV), but you can for sure get your freak on there. even worth it just to go over look FSE from the balcony. play some of the $5 tables in the casino, get some free drinks, and head upstairs. you can easily get $50 in drinks outta $50 in chips if you a) tip your drink lady, b) play conservatively, and c) tip your drink lady. be sure to 'thank' your dealer if you hit a steak (esp. if they have tossed you some advice)

hope you have some fun

Get YOUR facts straight. The "ACTION" starts at 12:30 pm....and I was there last night, absolutely NO CHARGE, (Heavy Petting Zoo was playing from about 7:15 till 12:30 am) same thing the week before that, and the week before that, and the week before that and every week before that..

Oh, and I'm a local too

Sure, I can believe that on a dead Sunday night LOL when all the tourists flew back home on the weekend, and most locals are asleep so they can go to work on Monday. . I did not know I needed to clarify, but I was talking Friday and Saturday nights when the strip is packed. Before you respond, go on those nights and tell me my facts are not straight. I personally have better things to do than hang out on the strip on Sunday thru Thursday, like going to bed and going bed so I can make it to work the next day. I forget, some of us actually have to work for a living.

Saturdays and Sundays are the evenings I am there

The original poster did not state that they are visiting in the future, and CC does not charge for admission at this point.

Whether or not they charge admission if Las Vegas becomes super crowded is not in question. Right now, at this point in time there is no admission fee, day or evening.
