Nothing of great importance here, just curious.

In the NW, always on Thursday nights, there is what appears to be a police helicopter flying very low with a spotlight. Is this their 'practice' night? It is loud. It is annoying. And it has the potential for danger.

Couldn't they practice out in the desert?

They could but maybe it is real world activity, although it would be a strange coincidence to happen every Thursday. Other thing could be they need to train in an urban environment.

On a similar note of pure curiosity. Have you guys ever seen that green plane with the dice on the tail thats usually (moved recently) parked at the executive airfield or whatever near Sunset and LV BLVD? Ive been curious who owns that sweet machine. Any guesses?

Get the tail number and look it up. Public Record.

I used to live in Rancho Alta Mira around Craig and Decatur. I noticed an exceptionally high amount of metro helicopters combing through my neighborhood on a weekly basis. It was when I first moved here so I thought perhaps it was normal. We'd be sitting in the hot tub and a watch them buzz around. I'd often wonder if someone was about to jump over our wall. Now I live around Silverado Ranch and LVBLVD, which I would guess has the same amount of crime if not more, and I rarely see them. Perhaps they do train in that area.

Craig and Decatur is not far from the North Las Vegas Airport where Metro flies out of, so that could be the reason you would see so many helicopters flying around before.
