Would anyone have any personal recommendations for apartment living in Las Vegas which would be close to stores, hospitals, etc? Safety is my utmost concern in looking for a place to live.

Las Vegas is a far cry from Philadelphia. If you don't like suburbs you might not find Vegas very appealing.

Las Vegas is pretty much one Target, Walmart, Apple-bees, Fridays, Sam's Club, and Home Depot infested plaza after the other. Sprinkle in thousands of foreclosed track homes, some local over marketed casinos, and a money tree or title for loan store on every corner and you have your typical Las Vegas neighborhood. Henderson is even worse.

No skyscrapers in the distance, no mom and pop pizza shop around the corner, no light rail system to get you where you need to go. Las Vegas is not a real city. It's a spread out mess of suburbs. The areas that are considered "urban" are run down areas of town that are shadowed by nothing but downtown casinos.

If you are into living in a city or an urban environment, I'd rethink moving here. I've got to warn you. City people don't seem to like it here.

just checking...are we talking Detroit, MI...or Las Vegas, NV here? Last 2 threads certainly don't paint a pretty desert picture.
