HI -I am looking to buy a house in Vegas. Which is better Green Valley or Summerlin. I am a girl late 30's single and looking for a single scene, fine dinning Starbucks, sport bars... I am very confused..as both look great, I have only spent time in GV but Summerlin looks to have a lot more action...

Well, judging from how large the Clark Co. School system is in all areas you will probably be living around alot of families in either of those places.

I had a friend-single guy-who purchased a home in Summerlin and loved it. I thought it was quite suburban where he was. I just moved back to MI from Henderson-wasn't there long-now my husband in living in GV. I liked GV alot. It is close to the Strip, has The District-which has lots of shopping, casino, and bar/restaurants. Plus, there are alot of bars in the area also. We checked out quite a few of them and it seemed as if they were usually busy and the people were very friendly. Met people at all of them. Some had great bands, some were sports-type places with dedicated fans to the teams they represented-such as Half Shell which was a Chargers place-we went there because we heard some fun going on and it was crowded and they had a band up on the patio--great fun!!

Not so sure about the nightlife in Summerlin for singles. I am sure there is one.

Good luck with your decision!

I personally would say Summerlin. Summerlin as a lot of parks and is closer to a lot of outdoorsy (sp?). A lot of my friends have chosen to live there and it's nice. It's close to Boca Park, movie theatres, great food. Summerlin is close to the 95 and not far from the 215, depending on what part you live in.

Summerlin and Green Valley are both good choices. Both have a good number of families, but plenty of young people too.

Summerlin is further from the strip, but there's plenty going on, especially in central and southern Summerlin. The southwest corner of the valley is booming with new development (well, not so much this year, but in the past few years). There are tons of restaurants, bars, and shopping. There are also a few good locals casinos (the Red Rock Casino especially attracts a young and hip crowd; I'd say that it's perhaps the best in the valley for young locals). Summerlin is also closer to hiking and skiing; Mount Charleston and Red Rock Canyon are both to the west side of the valley.

Green Valley is closer to the strip. BUT, Green Valley also has worse traffic, in my experience. I guess that's the trade-off you get for living closer to the excitement. Green Valley has excellent shopping and dining (the District is really neat), as well as some bars and hang-outs. Green Valley is close Lake Mead, for water recreation.

Also, keep in mind that the valley is pretty small. It's entirely possible to live in one part of town, but venture out to other parts of town for entertainment. People do it all the time.

You could easily live in Summerlin, but still enjoy what GV has to offer. Or you could easily live in Green Valley, but still enjoy what Summerlin has to offer.
