Hi all,

Still semi-new to these forums, but we're getting ready to move over to Las Vegas from Los Angeles, and we got a place at Park 1, and I was told the elementary school over there is Jacobson. I have a six year old that's has pretty severe ADHD. Her first school for kindergarden practically threw her to the side (this was pre-diagnosis) and cut her days in half because they say she was too much of a distraction, and that they couldn't take the time to give her the individual attention she needed... so we moved her to a new school this year, which has been a great improvement.. but she's still way behind as far as academics go (she's been placed in special ed since) and I know going to a new school mid year can be hard, so I was just curious if anybody knew how that school was, it seems a lot larger than what we're used to... so I'm worried she might go back to getting thrown to the side again.. anybody have kids that go there?

Welcome to the forums!

i wish i could be more positive, but when we talk about the school system...

this topic has been discussed to death over the past month, the school's here do not want to give any personal attention, they don't even have the resources for current textbooks, my government book doesn't even go past Clinton's first term...i'm sorry to be blunt, but the schools here seem to think that if you are highly gifted or have a learning disability, you are a waste of time and must go at the same pace of the average kids...

it also depends on the individual teacher sometimes, and you may get lucky by getting a good teacher, but they are usually a luck of the draw, they don't like it when people request certain teachers and its hard to transfer out of a teacher's class as well...

Good luck, maybe Jacobson is different!
