i agree on the price of the condo's, when i was at the bellagio (where the citycenter sales area is), i asked about pricings.... the woman told me a half mil gets about 600-800 square feet, my jaw hit the floor....even if i had the cash, i wouldn't drop it there. for a half mil, you are close to getting a mcmansion in the northwest.

Default 50% will lose

Yes, half of the jobs will be offered to MGM employees. Anyone dumb enough to take them will find out what the unemployment line is like.

If you have yet to figure it out, Vegas is a different animal than any other city. Business is tourist based and jobs are lost or found based on relationships more than experience.

The Wynn hired over 10,000 workers when they opened up the Wynn Hotel. Laying off about 3,000 in the following 3 months. And that was when the economy was good.

At that point, a room at the Wynn was going for over $300/night midweek. Today it is going for less than $150/night. Same for the Venetian ($100 at Encore)

So along comes City Center and wanting to hire 12,000 people. For what?? If they really hire 12,000 people, I am betting that over half will never put in a full 40 hour week beyond training.

The community organizer turned President, isn't going to fix this problem right away and make people come to Las Vegas. This town needs to get its act together, stop being so damned greedy and provide better value and better customer service to turn things around.

X is a mathematical term, representing an unknown value.
In plumbing, a spurt is a drip under pressure.

Therefore...

An expert is an unknown drip under pressure.

City Center will do just fine. MGM will eventually own only MGM, Bellagio, and City Center. I spoke with the manager of Prudential, Beverly Hills a couple days ago, and his office has provided several hundred buyers alone.

I was laid off by MGM/Mirage in November... The corporate sector. I can't find work here or on a national level,so I gotta go to LV's Arabian twin.

Dubai.

I have a choice. Walk Boulder Hwy as a bum, or leave for a while. Nutz!

Actually, and I may be mistaken on this but don't believe I am, Dubai's economy is based on tourism. They are one of two arab Emirates that does not produce any oil in their region. Although the UAE does share it's oil revenue, I'm not sure how much of the other Emirate's oil money Dubai sees. FWIW, the bubble has already burst over there. RE prices and overall revenue are down over there and being that Dubai doesn't really offer anything that other tourist destinations don't offer as well at a much lower price I can't see how Dubai can compete with a reasonably priced Las Vegas or other spots like Macau. Hell, there is at least one 5 star hotel in Paris that is competitively priced against Dubai's 5 star hotels and I would much rather see Paris than Dubai.
