Hey i am moving from MN to las vegas/Henderson anyone ever heard of South Valley Ranch Apartments? That's were we think we are going to move before we rent a house so we can find one in the right area.
Hope to meet some nice people out there and cant wait to get out of this cold!
Also how does the taxes work? in MN we pay state/federal/social/medical tax out of every paycheck. I heard all you pay in NV is federal? what percent of your pay goes for federal? O and tax is 7.5 on everything?
Also how long do you have to change you license, and register your car? Are diesel trucks required to do a smog test? (we don't have smog testing at all in MN)
Thanks!

You still pay federal tax, social security and whatever your allotment for the month for your medical insurance. The only thing you don't pay is state tax.

South Valley Ranch Apts are very nice. A woman I work with lives there and loves it. Her cousin has lived there for 6 years and said that she will never move. A few weeks ago I visited there and saw the two bedroom apts. The lower ones have higher ceilings. They are pretty nice. The management (according to the person I work with) is very responsive to requests and problems. The grounds are very neat and well cared for. They have a small exercise room, a pool (not heated) and garages that can be rented by the month. It seems like a quiet area and is near a neighborhood (within walking distance) that has a small park. Hope this helps.

I believe you have 30 days to register your car. I lived here for at least a year before I registered my car and changed my license. I know others who have lived here longer and still have not changed theirs. Supposedly if you have a job (and I think buy a house) you have 30 days. If you get stopped you can get a large fine. However, they have so many tourists that I felt that if I got stopped I would say that I was not sure if I was going to make this my permanent residence. I never had to do that. I got my license and bought a car this past Fall. Registration and car insurance are quite pricey. This is where ( I am told) they make up the money from not having a state tax.
