Thats funny everyone. I too have never thrown away my winter jackets from back in the North East. I probably never will. I also never will live where it snows. So why do we keep those old winter jackets?

I decided to buy a nice lightweight coat for the mild winters here. I found the perfect one at Burlington coat factory. I took that one with me to michigan last november and about froze to death out there since it was snowing every day. Plus my slip on shoes didn't help too much either.

Desertsun, we keep our thick winter coats and jackets just in case it might actually get cold enough to wear them now and then. Go spend a week or two up at Mt.Charleston in the winter. I guarantee you can wear them up there.

That's funny. I actually still have my old pink jacket from back in Calif. I just don't wear it anymore.

When I first came here I brought my nice, new, charcoal gray, wool overcoat that made me look like I belonged on Madison Avenue. The first winter here I thought it was cold enough one night so I put it on and went downtown. Inside I had to take it off as I was afraid of heat stroke, so I was holding it under my arm while talking to a dealer friend. He finally told me to get away from him with that or they might think he was stuffing chips in it. That was the first and last time I wore it. I had a hard time parting with it though as I never knew when I might need it. After about ten years all that hanging in the closet made it shrink, so I gave it away. By the way, I remember that first winter I only wore a cardigan sweater to keep warm, but I was trying to acclimate. I could have used something a little warmer.
