After checking ehealthinsurance.com I noticed that a $0 deductable HMO plan goes for $107/month w/ Healthplan of Nevada.

Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles costs $254 for the same plan.

Why is it soo much cheaper for health insurance in Vegas?

Ever see "Sicko"?

Kaiser didn't exactly get shown in a positive light either.

Healthcare is cheap out here because all they ever do is come in the room, look at you and give you a bunch of prescriptions to fill. It's your insurance money they want, they don't give a fig about you.

That has been my experience with Kaiser the whole time. No different quality here in Los Angeles.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm moving to Vegas at the end of the month and need a new HMO. Healthplan of Nevada's prices looked very reasonable compared to what I've been paying in LA.

You're lucky if you're even seen by an MD. Usually it's a glorified nurse.

In my experience, the majority of anything done for you is done by a Nurse Practitioner. All the doctor does is come in, shake your hand, make a note on his clipboard(probably drawing stick people) and leave's the room.
So it doesn't matter what insurance plan you get, basically most of the doctors are the same out here.

Why is health care cheaper in Nevada? Well like anything in life you get what you pay for right?

All ribbing aside. What ever gave you the idea health care is cheaper here? I never heard of "cheap" health care.

One thing is for sure, if you get sick here you are taking your life in some one elses hands who is not competent. Even our own Governor and Mayor go to Phoenix or Southern Cal when they need care. What does that tell you?

I have had substantial medical care here and found it quite adequate. About the same as suburban Los Angeles. I would have almost anything done here with the exception of open heart surgery and perhaps some cancer treatments.

there are a few specialties in short supply but none of the obvious things.
