I've found it hard to make friends, but I think it is me, I tend to be a loner. That being said, joining groups and get involved, and you will meet people. There are plenty of opportunities to get out and do stuff. Who cares if they are transient, you'll just meet more as more move here.

Personally I've found that the best way to meet new people is through a softball league, online, or through work. Many people also make friends by doing charitable work like volunteering at places like Three Square or Opportunity Village.
