So we are leaving central Florida either Tuesday or Wednesday morning depending on how quickly I get the rest of the house packed up. Still can't wait to get there. Gonna take the computer down sometime Tuesday morning. Does anyone have any last minute advice about the drive or the move? Still deciding on which extended stay hotel is the best choice for our money with our Jack Russell Terrier Cooper so we are open for suggestions there and trying to stay around $1000/mo. It might be a while before we get the computer back up and running when we get there as it is an expense we can afford to give up temporarily. (might not want the residents or maids at the hotel to see us carrying it in anyway) I will miss the forum very much while down, everyone here has become part of my daily life, can't wait to see what's going on every day. See you all there and thanks again for all the info/advice! Soon I'll be answering questions from a locals standpoint!

If you've got a laptop you can get free wifi at the local libraries, and I think that McDonald's wifi is free too. Starbucks has wifi, but you have to pay for theirs. Best of luck on the move!

Well, you can always use this as an excuse to get a new laptop. I know that Fry's is having good sales thru tomorrow. I might drop by and get a new memory card for my digital camera. They have an 8gb SDHC card on sale for $54.95.

We wanted to get a laptop but while we are financially prepared for the move we figure every penny counts while we are looking for work. Wouldn't be able to sell the desktop for enough $$ to cover the cost of a laptop so it will have to wait. We are even going to pawn the monitor here and pick up a new one at a pawn shop there just to save space in the trunk of the car because we didn't think our furniture was worth the cost of moving it so far away. Well, I got some packing to do!

On Decatur and Sahara on the North East corner a few doors down from the Vons there's a small computer shop that usually has a good supply of used monitors priced cheap.

I can't recall the name of the business.

Let me also wish you a very very safe trip. I also want to give you something else to think about. I like so many others here took a very simular long trip when relocating here. One thing I wish I did different was to take my time and make a few more stops. I pushed on to get here too fast.

Take this as an idea. I took that long trip all by myself. I kept a diary and logged every single food, gas and rest stop. I logged things I saw along the way as well.

The past few weeks we have been packing and organizing for our move. I came across that ol diary. In reading it, it brought back some wonderful memories of that trip. But on the other hand I still sit here wishing I stopped and seen some things rather then pushing on so hard. I dont mean make the 5 day trip into weeks. Stretch it just a few and make the drive enjoyable.

My diary was complaining about paying so much in Oklahoma for gas and how expensive it was as opposed to Texas. I complained about 85 cents per gallon but in the Texas Panhandle it was a whopping 69 cents. Then what happened? Bush the Dictator was appointed and now we nearly hit $5 a gallon.

I promise you this. In our up and coming move we will take a week or more to make the 3 day drive. Of course we have a beautiful modern RV which makes it easier too. No matter where we go, we always have our own bed and our own pillow. America's back roads and small cities is just too wonderful to speed by it on the Interstate Highway.

Take a look here: Roadside America - Guide to Uniquely Odd Tourist Attractions This will guide you to just what Im talking about. There are many great and free things to do that takes nothing more then an hour off the Interstate.

In 10 years who knows where you will be. But you can look back on that diary and have a blast reminiscing the good times.

Good luck !
