Well the economy has increased cans being taken from recycle bins....I don't mind it when I see someone in need taking some cans, but now we see pickup trucks going through entire neighborhoods and emptying the can bin into their beds, placing the bin back down and moving to the next house like they are some sort of trash company.

I know Henderson, LV and the County all have codes making it illegal.

Anyone else seeing an increase in this?

I live in a condo so we don't recycle, but my parents have said something about this as well (Green Valley).

I know a guy that goes around to all the softball games and collects beer cans - that is all he does for a living. Rides a bike and packs them into his suburban. Not sure what they are worth, but it keeps him in shape and he enjoys it.

Does he take them to Michigan in a big truck, like Kramer on Seinfeld?

That's funny that you mention Kramer because we keep our cans and when we go to California which is alot! we bring them with us! it pays for the gas! well it use to! But it puts a dent in the gas bill @ 1.70 a pound!

When we lived in an apartment, we used to save the cans in trash bags on the patio....had a homeless guy that would come around and collect them every 2-3 weeks.....

Then some little *******s murdered him just for fun......they did catch them and they got the maximum....

We just thought he quit showing up until we saw his picture in the paper during the trial.

I haven't seen it but I don't care who takes them just as long as they recycle them.

I collected cans in PA in my area for a whole month, and got 8 bags crushed cans. It gave me $125. I wouldn't recommend it though now, because of the hot weather. It's fine though, in the spring. No one ever said anything to me either. And it's so weird finding out which neighbors walk their dog at 3am. LOL! I'm sure they thought I was weird for collecting aluminum cans at that time too

Cans and Bottles are pretty lucrative in states with CRV. I use to collect them myself when I lived in CA for extra gas money.

This happens plenty in my apt complex with multiple people coming by on foot, bikes, and trucks. I live across from the dumpsters so I hear them rummage through every time. I like that my many, many beer cans are being recycled, I just wish it wasn't at 1 in the morning.
