ok so i just moved here a few days ago. after i get situated with everything, i want to find a PT job. i know i can't be picky. i worked 1 year in a supermarket in dairy in nj. what's my best bet in henderson as far as pt jobs go? i was payed like 8.50 an hour in nj. i guess i can't really expect to get payed that around here? if i applied to a place like smith's would i get an immediate higher wage for my 1 meager year in work exp? should i try to find a job on campus at UNLV? i don't know what the shifts would be like at unlv, it would only be nice if i went from classes straight to work so i don't waste gas back and forth to home and back.

any advice?

(btw im 19)

Go to freshandeasy.com. They start out at $10 an hour for part time work. There are a few locations in your area.

PinkString is right and they are opening a location at Eastern and Wigwam soon and construction is on one at Stephanie/Horizon Ridge...

I know that the other supermarkets do not pay as much...

UNLV has a job placement center located in their financial aid office. Check there as well.

If all else fails, you could always do lifeguarding. I'm not sure if they're still hiring this late in the summer, but if so, it's a good bet.

GeoX, I have 2 teens in college and in the past 3 weeks have placed more than 10 applications each.

Nothing.

Just don't give up. If you find a place that you 'really, really' want to work..... go in there weekly or so and make yourself known.

Good luck!

There's a company right across the street from UNLV that does telephone interviewing. It may even have a sign out front with a telephone number to call....

It's not telemarketing either - but legit market research.

Might be convenient for you.
