I am currently living in Orange County, CA and want to move out of this area this summer. It is getting way to expensive to live here. I know there are alot of California transplants in Nevada and I would like to know how hard was it getting used to the drier climate, how long did it take for you to be employed and get settled in, and are you any happier in Nevada. Was it a good decision.
What are the safest areas in Henderson that I should be looking into for a place to live. Are there many employers in the Henderson area.

Well for a start...

Welcome to Las Vegas

An easy town to get around in. You can live in Henderson and work strip or downtown comfortably.

This is different for everyone. No one finds happiness in a certain city or town, but what are you looking for? If your just looking for a lower cost of living, well its cheaper here in LV compared to the OC, but its not going to be the same. I'm from the Bay Area and what I really miss most is the friends and family and the weather. Otherwise, its a + for me because I was able to afford a home here in LV and make a good living on what I love to do. Most people move to LV thinking it will cure their $$$ problems from a more expensive place. This is not always true. I would suggest taking a few scouting trips and read all material you can. Good luck!

I agree with the above posts. Do some searches on this site and you should find multiple threads in which Henderson is discussed.

Why are you thinking of moving to Henderson? As with moving anywhere else, you should be moving to the Vegas area for a reason. What's your background? If you're just looking for lower COL, there are many places lower than Vegas.

You should think about what you want professionally/educationally and with regards to your personal life. If you think Vegas is the place that offers the most, then you should consider moving there, but have solid reasons (and do your research) before making the move.
