We have been looking at buying a condo to use as a second home several times a year. We have been speaking to several agents and it seems everyone has a different opinion on where would be the best location than there is condo conversions some say trouble others don't say anything, some show us short sales while other don't want to touch.
We are thinking of spending 5 days there and want a 3 bedroom with a pool, play ground, nice landscape, exercise room and close to stores (walking would be best) for under 75000
Does anyone know how to narrow it down so we can buy something we will be happy with for the next several years

Real Estate — Search Homes for Sale, MLS Listings, Real Estate Agents, Property Information — Zip Realty has the best search criteria, including a proximity feature, where you can show homes within a certain distance to a certain address. I started looking near Trader Joe's. You don't have to use their agents.

Yup....

Get rid of the walk to stuff and there are a few...

Shorts will open the set. But will lower the liklihood of any one bid.

Three bedrooms and 75K limits it. The walks to kills it.

My wife asked that we be close to Trader Joes.
Any ideas of location if we take the walking out.

Let's put it this way ...if it cost under $75,000, it's a shack in the ghetto, and you wouldn't want to sleep there, let alone walk outside.

I would take Khun T's "sage" advise and use the proximity search as he suggested, it will save ALOT of time.

Just had a quick looky-loo and found this 3Bdrm/2.5Ba Condo/Townhome in Aliante for $70,000. Built by Pulte in 2008! 1,647 sqft. Costco, Best Buy, Target all nearby and near the 215 for convenient freeway access.

MLS #1120189

Cheers!!!

Near, not in, Aliante. High HOA $210

HUD home. Owner occupied only at the moment. Needs all appliances and $1000 in repair. Have to go through a HUD broker to bid.

Lousey process...you know the eventual outcome however in one day.

$210 is high? Not really, have a look at the HOA's in California, Hawaii and Florida.

$1000 in repairs? I would factor that into my offer and ask for an allowance for appliances.

Every broker I know is HUD certified.

Don't know about the process but could it really be worse than dealing with a bank?

Thanks!
