Will also be used for other cultural events:

July 15, 2021 12:54 New Indie Theater Planned for Downtown: Work is expected to begin this fall on a new downtown entertainment venue called the Beverly Theater. The smallish two-story 14,000-foot building located on the corner of Sixth St. and Bonneville Ave. will host “independent film, live music, arts performances, literary experiences, and educational programming” and is expected to open in 2022.

This is welcome news for me - thanks for posting. The Regal Village Square used to be my go-to for obscure art films and the like (most of the good ones are limited release). Century Suncoast had some now and then also (saw a new Wes Anderson release there). The drive for those two was always the kicker. Downtown is much closer for me.

Let's hope people will support this endeavor by the Rogers Foundation. It's unfortunate that the arts are too often supported by private individuals versus corporations that could pay for this out of petty cash.

Yeah I was a little surprised there didn’t seem to be an indie theater here? There must have been like 15 in Portland at least lol it was never hard to find. I don’t go to the theater for many indie movies personally, though. The studios send me any indie film with awards potential for free every year, so I prefer that route frankly because it’s easier. Then catch the rest on streaming if they don’t send me the thing.

Tucson has an independent movie house. However, you find the BEST foreign language films in town at the large theatres run by Cinemark and Hawkins
