Oh, while we're at it, spiders and scorpions are not poisonous.
There venom can be considered poisonous to some people that can have an allergic reaction. And the Bark Scorpion is poisonous. Stings cause pain, area around the sting may feel numb or weak, and other symptoms are hyperactivity, anxiety, profuse salivation, dizziness, respiratory distress, and convulsions, and death is rare but possible. And all this is from a publication from the Nevada Department of Agriculture.

The black widow and the hobo spider which is found in Northern Nevada have dangerous venom for us humans. To high risk people (babies, elderly, hypersensitive individuals, and the sick), the venom can even be fatal.

And yes most people consider spiders and scorpions insects/bugs. I even ask some people what kind of bugs they are seeing they don't even know and don't care to know.

Default Back to the topic

Pets in our neighborhood are hurt or die from old age and disease. Then of being hit by automobiles. Then from attacks by other animals.

Have never heard of a pet getting it from any insect. One of our cats would love to torture a scorpion to death if he could find one. And another poster has a cat who believes roaches are a delicacy.

As to heat...give them shade and you will find they are very adoptable. None of our pay any attention. Just need available water .

I ran with my Lhasa Apsos for years in the summer heat and they loved it as much as I did. Then one day some fat lady with a fat little spoiled dog in her air conditioned car stopped me on the street and told me I was harming their feet by "making" them run on the hot sidewalk. I told her that they begged to go and had been doing it all their lives and they loved it. Then I told her that she and her dog might lose some weight and live longer if they got out of that car and walked or ran a little bit. Of course this was right after I had triple by-pass surgery so I wasn't in the mood to listen to someone who never worked up a sweat in their lives, and probably were new to town anyway, giving me a lecture. But darned if it didn't start me to thinking about those dogs' feet and spoiled the fun for all three of us plus the generation of Lhasa Apsos that I have now.

Do you think you could get some little booties or something for them to wear?

But, also, as long as their pads aren't bleeding, and they don't seem to be in any pain, there shouldn't be any problem.

Talk to your vet, and get their opinion. Don't give up running the pooches when they love it so much (a rarity in our society of self-entitled people) because of someone else's self-righteousness).

Your symptoms are right on, but still, bark scorpions are not poisonous. Poisonous creatures secrete the poison through their skin glands, you can get ill by just handling them (ie poison dart tree frog). Scorpions, however, are venomous. They sicken their prey by injecting venom subcutaneously. See where Im coming from? There is a big difference between poisonous and venomous animals, hope this makes sense.

My cat does not really go very far, she's a big putty tat that is a big baby. She never leaves the yard, unless she's picking on another cat (because she is *not* a cat, she is a dog and dogs hate cats, LOL) (she really is a cat, but she hates other cats).

Hate to rain on your parade. But you can still get sinus infections in the desert. Although they aren't as common as in the more humid climates.

Most of my sinus infections are caused by mold and indoor allergies.

I know not to expect them to *totally* go away, but an less is great.
