D, I was a social worker and teaching is my retirement part time job. The north is sadly lacking in services. I worked in 4 states and this is the worst. We don’t have enough beds.

A studio is 1k, 1 bedrooms between 1200-1400, etc. Plus security deposit and a apartment shortage. Nevada is the home of many minimum wage jobs.
Not so sure that your price points are accurate. I live in North Las Vegas, West of the Interstate and east of MLK Blvd.

I have a fairly modern one bedroom for less than 1k. Possibly I misread your post, are the prices you mention for Reno/Sparks or Las Vegas? Hard to fathom Northern Nevada being that pricey. I do not know of many white collar jobs there. I would speculate that the average wage up there would be 10-15 bucks an hour.

I think Teacher Terry is in the Reno area but I agree with you the prices she mentioned seemed high.

Good for Mayor Goodman and the residents of Las Vegas.

I realize it’s a incomplete plan, but on complicated things like this you take the first steps that are easiest combined with the biggest payoffs. Getting those who are shelter resistant off the streets is the first line in combatting this problem. People seem to forget that the primary role of government is protection of its citizens and their property. I don’t agree with everything Mayor Goodman is saying, but I’d bet she can be worked with, unlike the do nothing mayor of Los Angeles. I love what she said about meeting after meeting with no actual plan being proposed. It’s politicians and sycophants who profit from the continual homeless problems who cause these delays...who cause the LA problem where each housing unit costs a whoppingly unbelievable $570k each.

I’d even bet Mayor Goodman, after getting this off the ground, could work with the Feds and secure funds for transitional or affordable housing.

I’m seeing legit adds in Las Vegas as low as $650-800/mo.

Any full time job supports that, and maybe a small part time job helps. Neither are difficult to find unless you are drug addicted.

I’m guessing a room in a house can be had at a few hundred less.

The prices for Reno-sparks are accurate. I know people that rent. My kids have a 2 bedroom that costs 1900 and still looks like it did in 1980. People are advertising a room in their homes for 800. Plus we have a big shortage. My kids lived in a bad neighborhood for awhile to save money and got bed bugs. Couldn’t get rid of them and had to throw away their furniture that was upholstery when they moved. From what I read Vegas is cheaper. We have gotten some better paying jobs here but still plenty of minimum wage jobs.

Are you sure about that?

Average household income of $46k, almost no unemployment, and very few people at the bottom of the wage scale. Moderator cut: link removed, competitor site

Is it possible that your info is out of date?
