I have been sick 3x as much since moving to Vegas in 2008. It has gotten to the point where I expect it as the norm.

WTF, seriously? You too? I have never had a sinus infection go systemic before this one. I was barfing a full cup of phlegm, gagging on anything solid, and had green stuff coming out of my ears. I am not exaggerating.

I have not kept solid food down for 18 days. Lost 20 pounds that I didn't need to lose.

There's something ugly in the air.

People! For real! Wash your hands, use hand sanitizer, sneeze into your elbow, not your hand, and seek out the white coats if it lasts for more than three days!!!!

Also, get a flu shot. Because if this is the pre-cursor, I'm not interested. Did you all watch " The Stand"? I feel like I have Captain Trips, and I generally do not get sick.

Yep, something is definitely out there.

My wife came down with something nasty about 3 weeks ago. Chills, headache, body aches, weakness, etc. My son caught it about a week later and missed the last 3 days of school prior to Thanksgiving break. Both had rapid onset of symptoms and were down hard for about 5 days. They said it was the worst they have felt in years. My wife felt normal after 10 days or so, but my son had some lingering effects (occasional deep cough and mild congestion) that only started to clear up in the last day or two. Even though I eventually caught it, I was fortunate because I never had it to the same degree that they did.

FWIW, all of us got our flu shots about a month before this thing hit.

Did you get the 4 strain flu shot?

I understand that flu shots aren't anywhere near 100% effective, but that really sucks

Whatever they had, it wasn't this year's strain. My son tested negative.

You're right, it does suck. As bad as it was, it sounds like NLVgal is going through something much more severe. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Lifestyle choices have a lot to do with these habits.

Do you wash your hands constantly? Do you make sure utencils and food are not on dirty tables?

Do you smoke, drink, work in areas where lots of people and germs spread?

All these things matter.

Drinking lots of water, taking your vitamin c and eating lots of fruits and vegetables can raise your immune system and might against these germs.
