You do realize that the Red Rock Casino is miles from the Strip and downtown, and that other than that casino, there's nothing else in the area to do, right???? Without a car, you're going to have one hell of a time getting to all of the sight-seeing spots that you're looking to take in.

Driving in Las Vegas is nowhere near like driving in New York. It isn't bad at all except it gets busy when people are going to work like 6:30 to 8 in the morning and 5:00 to 6 in the evening. The swing shift increases traffic a little at about 3:00pm but it's not that bad at all. And with the widening of US 95 that road is a pleasure to drive on. Our regular streets are mostly six lanes wide (or seven with turn lanes) and traffic flows pretty well.

Unless you just don't like to drive at all you probably should rent a car, especially if you plan to see some of the scenic outdoors sights like Red Rock Canyon. Red Rock Casino, (several miles from Red Rock Canyon but on the road to it) is a locals joint that is at least 12 miles from the Strip, a 20 minute drive by car. Don't know how long it would take to shuttle, but the city bus would probably take a long time to get there and a cab ride would be pretty expensive.

If you like BB-Q be sure to try the Salt Lick Barbecue at Red Rock. Red Rock Casino is in Summerlin which is probably the best part of town to live in, but most of the west and northwest parts of town are good. It's all good, just that some parts are old and run down now like all cities get. And like all cities the old parts generally start in the center of town and spread outward. Summerlin has a better chance of staying nice longer because of the community CC&Rs that keep it nice.

I stayed at the Red Rock Casino in November for a company meeting. They have a shuttle (free) that will bring down and back to the strip. It stops at 11PM or so but I just took a taxi back.

Enjoy it out there, its a nice Hotel/Casino.

$249 a night including a spa package and breakfast in bed. I'm taking my fiance for her birthday next month.

It is a nice hotel, just a ways away from everything. Personally, I like GVR better though.

Isn't that strange that in Vegas the shuttle would stop that early? It is a nice hotel. We go to movies there, and we like to eat at Salt Lick BB-Q. We went to see a strange swing band there the other night too in the lounge. It only cost $10.00. Only problem was there wasn't anyplace to sit.

Rent a car. Seriously. Red Rock is way out in the suburbs, and public transportation would be a nightmare.

That said, the casino itself is really nice.
