Have you been to LA/OC to even compare?
Here, let me help you with my post from earlier in the thread. Considering YOU were the one asking for response, you HAVE read through the responses people have taken the time & energy to contribute, right?

Perhaps OP can give us some apples to apples comparison examples of how Las Vegas is higher? I just don't see it. This is a great place for both quantity & quality of restaurants, made even better by the fact that one can leverage perks at numerous locations.
I have asked for examples. So have others. If you want people to buy into your premise, provide more information. Please.

There are people who make less than 20K here who live quite reasonably. Are they the norm? No. It requires frugality, patience & knowing how to leverage perks & casino benefits. Would I recommend it for most people? No. Putting too much energy into that keeps one from other things. That said, keeping your eye out for deals when they are there is basic common sense. I love being able to go to Aliante buffet for breakfast for $3.50 using points off my player's card. Great fresh eggs & omelets, bacon & all kinds of other stuff. Station Casinos have dirt-cheap late night dining specials, many as low as $1.99 (used to be 99 cents for 2 big pancakes or biscuits-n-gravy.) That's off-strip & I can't do anything like that in Orange County.

Hmm. Starting to think a description for OP could rhyme with Dr. Scholl. Or Diana Kroll.

A troll? really?

Trolling for what?

I just posted a question and my observation.. and that was it...

If my personal experience doesn't rhyme w/ yours.. does that make me a @#$@# troll?

I take offense w/ your attacks.

If your personal experiences differs from mine or others.. then so be it..

We have the right to debate and banter... no harm done...

I have no dog in this fight and don't care one way or the other...!

Other references place the cost of utilities in OC at 110% of US Average those in Las Vegas at 90% of the US average.

You are simply so wrong your position is hopeless.

And all that is before the CA income tax.

Yes.. I've read stats online from various media agencies... But it doesn't gel w/ my experience...

I WISH IT DID!

You are simply so wrong your position is hopeless. >> no need to attack... I'm only going by my anecdotal experiences....

BTW - I have no POSITION. I'm just citing my experience.

I am not trying to attack you.

What I *am* trying to do is cull more information to see if there is merit to your premise. By & large most information points to the contrary so far.

You *do* have a dog in this fight, so to speak, as you've created the discussion & are trying to say it's more expensive in OC than here. A number of people (myself included) have provided evidence to the contrary. There have been numerous requests for you to substantiate the higher prices here compared to OC, comparing apples to apples. *That* might provide some 'debate and banter', in the meantime we're all spinning our wheels since you're frustrated that others don't see it all the same as you.

If you want people to buy into your premise, you'll need to do some homework & provide examples. Others, including myself, have done just that. Yet you repeatedly ignore those requests & it boils down to because you said so. Can you see the disconnect & how that makes it difficult to have an informed discussion?

Give us examples & more information so there can be a discussion. I've already spent too much time on this & it feels like we're in a circuitous loop ...

These figures are my personal experience living in both locations. Again, my experience is that housing is SIGNIFICANTLY less in LV, as is property tax. Otherwise, it's generally the same or more expensive in LV. Although, I live in Green Valley, so it might cost more in general since it's a nicer area. My grocery store prices are higher for the same products than say some crap area in North Las Vegas.

Water/Sewer:
LV (not living in the house) = $55
OC (living in house using water)- $32

Internet:
LV (cox)=$70
OC (at&t)=$55

Sales Tax
LV=8.25%
OC=7.75%

Electricity (price difference due to not needing AC/Heater most of the time in OC. Better weather)
LV summer = $200+/winter=$80+
OC summer=$70+/winter=$30+

Car Insurance-same policy
LV: $620 twice a year
OC: $600 twice a year

Car Registration (new 2017 truck, both locations reduce fees each year)
LV: $700
OC: $351

TV = same price.
Cell= same price.

Fast food= same exact price
Beer at grocery store= same exact price
Cigarettes= 50 cents a pack cheaper in LV if you go to the right gas station
Fuel= about 30-50 cents cheaper a gallon in LV depending on gas station

Again, only my factual, personal experience in both locations. Yes, I can drive across town and use a member card to get a $3.50 buffet breakfast in LV, and never have such benefit in OC, but I am not retired and not spending that time/effort to get the deal. If I want breakfast I'll drive over to Ihop and pay the same price as I do in OC for the same breakfast, but pay more sales tax than in OC, with a much higher expectation to tip well since LV is very tip based pay. I'm not commenting on which location is "better", I'm simply disclosing my financial numbers for both locations. Other than the cost of my home, which is freaking awesome, I do not see any significant difference in the cost of living.

Actually housing and income tax alone should settle the issue.

Electricity is $0.16 per kwh in OC versus 0.11 per kwh in LV. And you need it only lightly in the coastal plan but in land OC? I used to live there and know better. And the superbly insulated houses of say Sun City Alliante run $75 a month in the peak heat.

Watrer and sewer wash. OC runs $60.39 for a 10,000 gallon per day user. LV runs between $59 and $62 depeding on where you are located.

Internet Cox has $50 plans and CenturyLink $40.

Now lets add in the housing and income tax. Everything else is blown away by the 2X housing cost and the imcome tax.

All up all in going to cost anyone close to 50% more to live in OC versus LV.

Thank you for your input.

Im not here to provide miles of data to prove "a point".

I'm merely throwing out a casual observation from eating out in Henderson and Las Vegas (compared to La/OC)

Nothing scientific.. just my personal (casual) experiences....

.. just bringing up an observation and wanting feedback from others...

I've read all the national statistics about Cost of Living etc...etc....

I'm not here to debate Cost of Living costs...

I'm just asking.... "HAS ANYONE ELSE NOTICED THAT RESTAURANT PRICES SEEM TO BE SLIGHTLY HIGHER IN VEGAS COMPARED TO LA/OC"

That's all...

If your "experience" has been different.. that's fine.... I'm not here to refute "your experience".

I'm just sharing mine.. and wondering if there are others who notice the same...
