Case Management pays bottom dollar unless you've been there for a while.

I'm ICU day**** (no misspelling) and make $45.00 an hour. I took a job with HPN and their starting was $36.00. I never started, couldn't afford the change.

Just for history, moved here from California where I was night shift ICU in 1999 making $25. Took day shift ICU making $18 (back in 99.) Now I'm $45. But there a REASON for this...
The ratios are bad. The work is very hard. The clientele are very rude and obnoxius, (yes, this is generalizing) but when people step off of a jet and want to go drink and gamble and then they end up in a hospital, remember, IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT, NURSE.

Just now noticed that I'm the first poster since 2009. Three years. I guess I'll go away...sad.

There have been other threads here about nursing jobs more recently, if my memory serves. This thread is just an older one.

The pay here for nursing really is excellent but you have to work extremely hard for every dollar you earn. I would love to move to another state in a few years but I don't know if I could take such a harsh pay cut. I was going to start out in Utah making $21 an hour but $32 here sounded much better (this was in 2009).
