If you can run ethernet cable (cat5e, cat6, cat7) to your camera location then a POE (power over ethernet) camera is the most reliable. There is no battery and no wifi, just a connection to your home network router. The camera can be viewed directly on your computer or you can add software to allow viewing on your cellphone as well. My system is set up to record all security cameras 24/7 and send an alert to my cellphone if motion is detected at night.

We just installed Arlo Pro 3. Three cameras, a doorbell, a chime, and a hub. Cameras have a spotlight that comes on at night when detecting movement. A siren you can turn on from the app, and microphone/speaker so you can hear/talk through them. They follow movement. Pretty easy setup, but if you live in a stucco house do all of it indoors then mount outside. Stucco/chicken wire is terrible for WiFi, but once I had them working inside they all work perfectly outside.

A visitor.

Curious if there are any security consultants in Vegas. I looked online and didn't find what I was looking for. Basically someone (probably an ex-criminal) who looks over your house to give you ideas for improving security. Maybe it's better locks, security film on windows, alarms, cameras, etc.... Anybody know anybody like that in LV?

Arlo and Ring cameras work well. I would use a multi-system. Much more secure than relying on one system. I have used ring door camera and then arlo on every corner of the house.

Would you be able to recommend a 9 camera system setup and installer with the features like you have? My newer home is pre wired with Cat6 POE outlets. Just want something reliable with good resolution that wouldn’t burn the wallet. Thanks for any feedback, please feel free to PM me as well if that’s preferred.

I left Vegas in June 2018, after reading these posts, they make it sound like Vegas became Chicago with all the crime. Is it really that bad now? I lived off Elkhorn/Decatur in the NW. It was a super quiet area.
