Underground utilities >

I had them in NC. I lived in a housing development that installed underground utilities. About the only place in that town with them, in fact.

We only lost power once in 8 years, and it was when some idiot hit the main box by the road.
When the rest of the town lost power due to ice storm, or tornado, or various, we still had power.

Only once in the ten years I've lived here and NV Energy (Nevada Power) gave a previous warning that they were changing some power equipment. Outage was about a quarter hour.

When I lived in Charleston, SC, power outages were on either a daily or weekly basis.

Yes, xafpilot, I can relate. In Richmond, VA, the power went out if the wind blew the wrong way... or sometimes, for no apparent reason at all. And when it went out due to weather, it was out for days to weeks.

We lost our for a couple hours the other day. 2000 homes in 89074 were out. They were replacing a large road-side box on Wigwam.
