Hi all,

I'm wondering if there's a website or locals paper of some kind that publishes a list of upcoming concerts in the Las Vegas area? I've done some searching and most resources I can find are catered to tourists with the bulk of the listings being Strip or downtown shows.

In Toronto, we have a weekly paper called NOW that has a comprehensive run-down of all musicians, DJs, acts, whatever, playing in town that week and a weekly schedule for specific venues.

Is there anything like this in Vegas, preferably online?

A bunch of my favourite bands are from California and I'm assuming they play Vegas often in smaller venues, would rather go check out the local music scene than an expensive Strip show.

Apples and oranges. This is not Toronto. Las Vegas is not like any other city. I'm not sure of the exact number of hotel/casinos we have, but we have 15 of the world's 25 largest. Small venues can't compete with that, so you'll find most of our entertainment is at major resorts all over town, not just on the Strip. Most hotels have more than one group, large or small, playing at any one time. Entertainment goes on 24/7, and a lot of it is free in small lounges inside the hotels, and most hotels are large enough to have more than one of these stages going at once.

There are some local restaurant/bars that have live entertainment at certain times, but probably not as many as you'd have in any other town like Toronto, etc. I have friends that play at Lola's Louisiana Kitchen for instance, but I think it's only one or two nights a week. A couple of Italian restaurants have live entertainment, such as the Bootlegger on Las Vegas Blvd South. I think you'll find some at Tivoli Village Shopping Center, The District shopping center, and Town Square shopping center.

I keep forgetting about the Fremont East District. Having worked in that area at one time, I sort of wish I could.

Realize that most of the listings on that link are showrooms and lounges inside resort hotels, and we have them all over town. Many of those casino/hotels are called "locals" casinos because they are close to residential neighborhoods, and are where locals prefer to hang out rather than to put up with the congestion of the Strip.

But, even the Strip isn't just the Strip. It has spread out in all four directions so much that the news people have taken to calling it the Resort Corridor.

I'm with you though. For some reason, I have always found it hard to find advertising and listings for a lot of what goes on in Las Vegas, and I've been here most of my life. Then, later, you'll see a news story on what you missed. But the 40 million tourists that come for those things do know, so I think they must put all their money into out of town advertising. I see more ads in LA for Las Vegas than I do here.

I've found that I tend to frequent the same dozen or so venues who cater to the certain type of music that I enjoy. By following them on Facebook, or subscribing to their emails, I stay informed on the genre I enjoy seeing. I am not interested in much of the music out there, so I don't want to wade through the hundreds of shows happening every week. Might not be a bad idea for you to select the venues that interest you and do similarly.
