I had a pleasant experience transferring my license and registering my car. I couldn't believe the amount of people waiting. I walked in and 15 minutes later, I was out.

1) Sign up for the DMV's virtual Wait. Just input your phone.
2) Fill out all necessary forms AHEAD by printing from DMV web site
3) Bring all necessary IDs (one for Identity and one for SSN)
4) If registering vehicle, get the VIN Verification FIRST (mini satellite office building in parking lot) before you walk into the DMV
5) Walk in the office and look for your last 4 digit phone number on the wait screen and go to your assigned window.

6) Enjoy the sea of faces who look frustrated and tired wasting time sitting there when they can be virtually waiting at Starbucks or at home watching a Keep up with the Kardashians.

This was done at the W. Flamingo location.

I have been to the DMV in Henderson (American Pacific / Stephanie) 3 times and every single time was a great experience. Nothing at all like any DMV visit in California. I am amazed when I hear anyone say anything bad about the NV DMV. I just don't think it is possible to have an unpleasant experience there.

LOL... My wife found out the hard way on Tues as she waited over 2 hrs to renew her drivers license and finally gave up and went home. She will do the kiosk today as I had recommended prior to her going to the DMV.

Word of advice (not to you, but to others) - make sure you send the text to the right office number. Last weekend, I meant to send it to the W. Flamingo location, but had a brainfart and sent it in for the E. Sahara office. Needless to say, when I received the message that I was at the front of the line and to proceed to a window that wasn't open, I was very confused. But the new Dashpass system meant that I could do all the rest of the things I needed to without sitting around at the DMV.

For most stuff yes. But transferring license and registering new car. NO. you need to show ID and return old plates.

On the web site, you click on the link next to the office you want to go to.

Wife had similar experience yesterday renewing her elderly mother's handicap parking placard. She received text messages letting her know where she was in line. Then they said she was 15 minutes out she ran to the DMV and got a text that she was up and what window to go to. Great improvement from a couple of months ago when I will say they were behind California DMV. At least in California you could make and appointment and they typically got you in close to your appointment time.

I was in there and went to text my wait time status and accidentally put in a M instead of an S... (or was it the other way around... 20 minutes added to my wait time.

What? There's an In-n-Out in the DMV's now? Great idea!
