Based on empirical evidence, albeit a VAST sample size, if you aint sporting at least a D cup, you aint working as a cocktail waitress at Venetian.

I started cocktailing downtown, 4 days before my probation period was over and I was to become union I got let go for no reason , I have an email from my boss saying I totally rocked I did nothing wrong its just an probationary thing go get a job I deserve whatever!!! I went to a audition at the Wynn they say you need 6 months experience which I had and I was in a room full of 21 year old no experience models and I didn't get the job I'm good looking and I'm young with experience so???? and I've been asked on numerious occasions by several casinos to submit pictures on line before they will even call me in for an interview, sounds very illegal to me, I have found another job cocktailing, but this industry is very discriminitory and unstable

Unfortunately, a lot of cocktailing jobs are advertised as "model/barftender" these days. Casting calls are held where personality and looks go a lot further than experience. This also gives hiring managers more latitude in letting a girl go if she gains 3 lbs. I don't agree with it but its a fact. You can train someone how to muddle a mojito.

Why does that seem illegal? Employers are prohibited from discriminating against people because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, and age (but only if you are 40 or older). Physical appearance / looking young is not a protected group so casinos are free to pick and choose the people who they think will best satisfy their customers. Customers at places like the Wynn have come to expect beautiful waitresses in great shape. If the casino doesn't come through, customers may go somewhere else. From the casino's point of view, why take the risk? It costs the same to hire one waitress as another (aside from training costs which are minimal for this position), so why not choose the ones that are most likely to keep their high rollers coming back again and again?

Just a few months ago Wynn touted that he wasn't going to lay off any one now it's a different story. Also other casino's have been laying off as well this is a right to work state and the can let you go if they don't like the color of your hair.

Wynn Resorts cuts 261 jobs, restores 40-hour work weeks June 15, 2010 By Amanda Finnegan Wynn Resorts laid off 261 people at Wynn Las Vegas and Encore today, calling it an effort to reduce overstaffing. Wynn Resorts Chairman and Chief Executive Steve Wynn said the layoffs account for less than 3 percent of the company's workforce.

Are there any age rules for waitressing in casinos? I saw one downtown on my last trip there that had to have been a senior citizen.
