If she wants, she can probably get a job at the Williams-Sonoma call center out there. It's a miserable job but it pays better than most retail and they are getting ready to gear up for the Holidays so she can probably get quite a few hours. It would keep her going till the mall is ready to open at least.

You aren't on your feet all the time and they do have free coffee...

Wow, look at me, super late in the game! I'm within a 10 minute walk of that place too, haha!

If that's the case, OP, I am 10000% positive they're going to hold a massive job fair closer to opening date! If she can't attend it, which it sounds like she might not be able to, she can probably apply for jobs once the place actually opens up. From my experience, new properties tend to do a massive job fair and then continue hiring for a while because of high turnover rates, unexpected traffic, etc.

And bro, I know many retail stores have a huge turnover rate haha.

Most likely $12 to $13 per hour to start but they do have better jobs she can apply for once she gets in the door. The job itself is easy, sell and take orders from WS/Pottery Barn/West Elm customers. The high stress/crappy element is from the constant micromanagement by supervisors and computers(they track everything but your pulse rate) plus it is usually very busy. Never a minute to just breathe. It's very difficult to do research and actually solve customer issues that require time off the phones. Me personally, I found it extremely stressful to promise an answer to a customer not knowing if I would be 'allowed' to do the work and satisfy the customer.

Those who are successful change jobs ASAP to get off the phones.

Another plus is extensive training/use of the CMS6000 computer system. Old, proprietary, IBM. But every casino/hotel in town uses it!

They are open 24X7 at least most of the year and they employ hundreds of people.

I've worked at the Williams-Sonoma Call center for 2 years. Most people start as service associates, making $11 an hour, and usually as a seasonal associate. If you're any good, they hire you permanently. Mostly, they hire full time people, but occasionally they'll offer part time positions. Also, they do allow at least some associates to work from home, to free up seats in the call center.

Once permanent, you get benefits, such as paid time off in the form of sick time, vacation and personal days. Choice of several insurance plans, dental, vision, etc.

They have a number of different departments throughout the care center, which service associates can apply for. Most of those start at $12 an hour, and those positions are general less stressful than the service position, in my opinion. Highest paying non managerial position in the call center is Online Chat, which is $14.

Raises are given yearly.

Let me know if you have any other questions. They're hiring right now, for seasonals, which basically means 4 or 5 weeks paid training, and she'd likely be employed at least until after Christmas.

As I am reading this thread, I am thinking the same. The Howard Hughes corp {Summerlin} is not hiring retail workers, the individual stores would be, if at all like you mentioned

Employees working in the stores of Downtown Summerlin would be employees of each individual store they get hired for. Not employees of the Howard Hughes Corporation, lol

I might still be there if I had a work from home position!
