When I first started hearing about Enterprise and people talking about it being near Las Vegas Blvd South, I thought, no you're way off base. What we used to call Enterprise, several decades ago, was an insignificant small area along Boulder Highway. Somehow it moved without my notice.

But "Enterprise" is still no more significant than saying you live in "Winchester", or "Paradise" ...nobody does. They just live in Las Vegas, but in "The County". Although all of those are merely designated townships within Clark County, and are governed by the County Commission. I believe they might even have a town board which I think is appointed by the County Commission. I think...but the truth is you won't find ten people who understand it. Probably the commissioners do.

Anyway, what is now known as Enterprise was until fairly recently, mostly empty desert. So it is nearly all new, and new developments usually take a while to run down and become overrun by low-lifes that bring crime. So don't worry about it. It should be as safe as anywhere new would be, and I imagine if you're coming from almost anywhere in the east, it is much safer here than there.

BTW: You will only confuse people by saying you live in "Enterprise". You will be marked as a newbie that doesn't know jack sh**. It is just a bunch of new housing developments now known as the southern end of Las Vegas, and most of us old timers say, as we speed down I-15 on the way to LA, where the he** did that come from? Then we cry about the good old days when we shot jackrabbits from our Jeeps out there. I see it also runs all the way to border with the small community of Sloan. If you live in Sloan, then you live in Sloan.

If you decide to live in Boulder City you will not be in Las Vegas. Boulder City is a small town 30 miles from Las Vegas. It is the only (or maybe 1 of 2, I forget) towns in Nevada where gambling is illegal. That's because it was built by the Federal government to house the workers building Hoover Dam, and the rule stuck. Until about the 1980s it was also a dry town.

It's like riding a bike in Minneapolis/St. Paul. It's definitely city riding with some places pretty safe and others not so safe.

Whether riding or driving, do it defensively. I always assume the other drivers are drunken lost tourists and so far it has served me well!

I am doing 3 x River Mountain Loop next week if people want to join. It will be roughly 100 miles in all and take 7 hours.
