Since you're not looking for anything out of the ordinary, why not look at a travel forum, like tripadvisor?
Las Vegas Forum, Travel Discussion for Las Vegas, Nevada

Or borrow a Las Vegas travel guide from your library.

What to be aware of ....
1. pickpockets. The only place with no camera is the bathroom so be mindful when you enter the restroom hallway. Someone might bump into you as your turn that corner.
2. there are no clocks or windows so you lose track of time. When you return to your room at night/early morning, hang the do not disturb sign on your door otherwise housekeeping willl be banging on your door at 8am

The Mob Museum is a must-see. I was not into going but my sister wanted to go, and now I am obsessed with stories of the mob in Vegas. It is literally the most exciting museum I have ever been in and is so beautifully put together, with so much to see.

That way when you visit again if your a football fan come during football season and hang out there.

As mentioned get ready for some heat. Once you check in make sure you get a club card for your hotel. They are free and you might get some discounts and of course see if the have a app. What you may want to do is get the card first and then check in they may give you a discount at check in. I have seen it happen at Sam's town casino.

Anyway have a good time and remember in Vegas on vacation you can be anyone at anytime. Just stay safe and strap up if the situation comes up. One more thing download the groupon app also for eating ideas. There is a twin peaks on the strip I think it's on the corner of Harmon and LV blvd. Find planet Hollywood and your there.

Just remember if your by yourself and have a few drinks be careful. The hardest part about Vegas is getting used to being able to do something 24/7.
YES!!! Omgoodness. My phone was so hot and overheated (I think it was 104 degrees out) it eventually just shut off lol. The heat is NO joke here! I tried to put my phone under the beach chairs where there is at least a little shade. It seemed to help a little bit. It was sooo terribly hot though!

Be sure to go downtown also and see the Fremont Street Experience. You might want to ride the zip line.
Go to a show or two. Any Cirque du Solei show is fantastic. The best one is 'O', and second best is The Beatles Love. Most visitors do some casino hopping, and if you're bored with casinos, go to the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay. I believe you can ride the monorail from the Mirage to City Center. Great place to see. There will be lounge shows everywhere you turn too. Some great free entertainment.

You might also say that about the Atomic Test Site Museum.

If you're driving, go out and see Red Rock Canyon. It's not far.

You'll be here for a good number of days. If you're going to have a car, you could use the better part of one of those days to head out US-93 to SR-375 and visit Area 51, if you're into that sort of thing. More detailed directions can be found around the web.
