Can anyone tell me how it is living in the Art District Apartments?
1520 S Casino Center Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89104.

I've heard the area is sketchy but I've also heard it's getting better and it's full of young people.
Thank you.

Wow. This marks a turning point on this board. Outsiders actually asking about moving into a (formerly?) downtrodden neighborhood. Most of us who have been here a while would never dream of living in the shadow of the Stratosphere, but getting in now might be a smart move as the gentrification continues. Tough decision.

Yes, it's full of sketchy young people...cockroach and drug alley, even if it's been reopened

So far this year 361 crimes within a mile. Half serious. One Homicide. 53 burglaries.

That is pretty bad for Las Vegas.

That is the back of the complex. Although, the front doesn't look too much better

Although crime stats don't tell the entire story, if you are seriously considering this the crime mapper website allows you to enter an address in the city and have crime updates in the area emailed to you daily, which should give you an idea of what's going on in the area and if it seems like more than you are willing to live with.

What one person considers an unacceptable level of crime may not seem too risky to someone else.
If being around young people is your primary goal there are nicer areas where you would also be able to achieve that.

So, I was actually THERE last night. Late. A friend of mine was having a birthday party at Dino's across the street that started at midnight (he's an LA 80s rocker and I think he's still excited that he can do things this late again here). We pulled in and I saw the apartments right across the street. Yeah, don't live there. Dino's however, was an awesome dive bar, maybe the diviest I've ever been in. Very eclectic mix of people, from hipsters, to drunks, to bikers, and then the 20 of us straight out of the 80s with big hair and guyliner (not me, mind you) I actually felt completely safe there, everyone was having a great time, and the place was PACKED. So much so, that I actually parked on the street across from the Art District Apartments. My wife and I had a wager going as to whether our car would be there and intact when we left at about 2:30a, but everything was fine.

Go to the bar, don't live in the neighborhood would be my advice.
