I am planning on traveling there on Monday to look at some new home builders and specifically of them are Pardee Homes, one near Aliante and one in 89113 Durango Ranch. I am concerned with the financial news I have read about North Las Vegas and the future there so is this an area to skip and how is the Enterprise area?

Any recommendations for good new home builders in the Southern Area for quality homes in the 3-400,000 range would be appreciated so I can check them out as well. I work from home so communte is not an issue, but I do need about 3000 sq ft.

Look at 89138 and 89144. Not new construction (some in 89138), but great areas in my opinion. Good luck.

89138,89144 agreed. The southwest has real nice homes in 89141 in southern highlands is one of my favorite areas in the Valley. If you can avoid North Vegas please do so .Nice home builds are underway in the Seven Hills area on Sunridge heights Pkwy, another very nice area. Just my 2 cents.

Since the northern part of Las Vegas has been mentioned, I have been considering retiring to the upper northwest section of Las Vegas.

I have been looking in the area, which is north of the 215 and west of the 95. I have been looking in Providence and just a bit east of that.

At the moment, it's a toss up between the said and the Mountain's Edge area. Any comments and personal experiences would much appreciated.

Apologies to the OP for jumping in on this particular thread. The subject is close enough and I didn't want to clutter the boards with another thread.

I'd stay out of North Las Vegas. There are some nice areas, but they're not real convenient to the rest of the valley. They City of NLV seem like a basket case financially. Also, there are a lot of really bad areas of NLV. I don't know if I'd want to be in a locality that has to deal with that.

Thanks for the feedback!

I know the Aliante area is regarded as nice so that is not my concern, it is more that the city itself is not doing well and how that bodes for the future there for infrastructure and home prices etc. I am also looking at the Southwest area 89139 any concerns with that area?

North Las Vegas is ok West of the 15 and north of Craig... the farther North the better... It is also convenient to 15 and 215. Disregard posters that don't live here and have no idea whatsoever...

really because NLV near 215 & 15 is more convenient than Centennial Hills. 89081 to strip is a straight shot down 15. Centennial is 215 to 95 to 15. I own properties in both areas and have had no issues whatsoever with either.

my concern is not so much nice areas or access..which I realize both have..it is more the issue with the cities financial situation, property taxes, property values, assessments and the like should they go bankrupt or some other issue..although I guess I am asking you guys to have a crystal ball LOL
