OP, Been here since 2007 and I am embarrassed to say I don't know that I would know a scorpion if I saw one and I have never seen a snake. I am in Silverado Ranch. You'll probably end up walking your pup early in the morning or late at night like the rest of us who are dog owned

As for the health concerns, you'll want to get Mom hooked up with a good pulmonologist pronto. The heat can make breathing a little tricky sometimes, but the news is pretty good about keeping people apprised of the air quality. Is mom on oxygen?

It's true. At a busy strip resort, let's do the math.. Say you run about one car every five minutes (which is a low estimate, these guys hustle). So at even two bucks per vehicle, that's 12 cars per hour at two bucks each (accounting for under-tippers, and a few over-tippers) So there's $24 per hour, plus your $8.00 an hour min. wage. $32.00 per hour, and you are not paying taxes on all of it. (Some of it, yes, but probably not all)

That's $1280.00 per week.

$64k per year. That's very good money with Vegas cost of living taken into account.

So yes, these jobs are hard to come by.

Now at the crappy resorts, not so much $, but it still beats flipping burgers.

Op, you do not need to worry about snakes. Your dog will be fine.

Some people have scorpions. I've been here since roughly 1985 and have never seen one. (Thank God)

Medical care here has a bad reputation. Some of it well-deserved, some not. Tell your mom to stick with traditional Medicare and maybe a supplement so she can choose her provider. Lots of times people sign up for Medicare Advantage plans (HMOs) and don't realize how limited their choice of providers will be.

Actually valet is split between the department. They don't keep their own tips. At a premium strip casino 60k is probably on the low end.

Thanks for the replys. I think moving will be good for me. I plan on comming out in May or June to look at different parts of Henderson and get a better idea of things. Seems my dog should be ok, I still worry because he likes to go for a lot of walks during the day. He is spoiled with that.
As for my mom no she is not on oxegen she always says she feels better in the dry heat. She has a hard time with the cold weather in Pittsburgh. I see a lot of mixed reviews on umc. A few years back there was talk of UPMC from Pittsburgh opening up a facility in Vegas. I'm not sure what happened to that idea, or if it is still in the works?

And, from what I've seen, there's a physical fitness issue with this job. There a lot of running around in the heat involved.
