Hello All,

My parents might be moving to Las Vegas soon, and are looking at a couple of places in the 89108 zip code, more particularly in the Smoke Ranch/Tanglewood neighborhoods. I have been reading a lot of what has been posted here about the 89108 zip code and it seems that the zip code has good/bad pockets. Are the Smoke Ranch/Tanglewood areas considered a good or bad area? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

*updated the correct spelling of Tanglewood

I suggest you check out the search feature in this forum [snip-- thread moved to Las Vegas forum] and check the threads for information on the areas you are wanting to move to. I am in the same boat in terms of moving to Las Vegas and this forum has a wealth of information in it as long as you choose to search for it.

That's not a good area. Better to look further west of there, west of Tenaya or at least west of Rainbow.

I would recommend not moving here. The people are not friendly and there are accidents everyday. The job market is not good and in vegas it is who you know not what you know when it comes to getting a job. I feel this is just a place to visit and not live. Las Vegas is overrated.

Self-fulfilling prophecy. There are MANY of us who live here and love it. I've only been here a little over 6 months, but find the people extremely friendly. You will need good driving skills and a grasp of good defensive driving. And the job market, while not stellar, still holds ample opportunity depending on your skill set.

And the nice thing about Las Vegas is you can live here AND still visit here, if that makes sense. I can stay in and around my neighborhood and it's like any of the other thousands of neighborhoods like it in the US. Or I can "play tourist" and head to the strip and visit Las Vegas. Best of both worlds

Oh, and it hardly ever rains and it is in the 60s in late December.

Don't let miserable people affect your decisions. They will be miserable no matter where they live.

I agree with Buzz123, there is a Las Vegas Crime Reports website ( CrimeMapping.com - National Map ) that you look at to see crime activity in the area you are looking in.
