Want to take some family snap shots hopefully with a bit of mountains and water in the background. Anyone have some cool easy to get too spots they know of? Golf Courses or maybe Lake Las Vegas? We just moved here recently and I am not real familiar with the area. Thank you!

Try Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. Plenty of scenic spots with water and mountains in the background there.

Go up to Mt. Charleston. It's close and easy to get to. You'll see a million scenic spots for pix. MapQuest Maps - Driving Directions - Map

Or go out to Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs. That's out most photogenic spot in town. I don't know where you live so I just mapped it from downtown Fremont St. MapQuest Maps - Driving Directions - Map

drive up lee canyon. take 95 north out of las vegas and past kyle canyon road (nevada state route 157). take a left at state route 156 (kyle canyon road).

another good spot for outdoor group shots that you may like is the springs preserve. if you are a local take advantage of the discount.

if you keep driving past lake las vegas you will enter lake mead national park. many good photo spots in and around there. and check out the valley of fire.

There's a turn off before you get to the Red Rock canyon scenic loop pay area that leads you to a free marshland area with a boardwalk. It's quite nice and scenic.

How far are you willing to drive? You can go to Red Rock Canyon; just follow Charleston BL west. Or go to the Valley of Fire either via the north shore road by Lake Mead, or via I-15 to the turn-off at the Piute Indian Fireworks store.

But, relax. If you plan to live here, you'll be taking scenic pictures everywhere you go.

One of many scenic views at Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs just off N. Decatur Bl. Water and mountains in one shot.
